I am new as the moderator of the Mako portion of this forum and still learning so please bear with me while I get to know how things work.

David Junods Maco/Mako site does have a wonderful gallery of pictures including my car http://makoshark2.com
I don't believe Randy meant to offend you David by suggesting a collection of Mako/Macos at this site,
The way I see it the more pictures of custom vettes out there all the better. |thumb|

I want to stress one thing that takes all the fun out of a forum for me is bashing ANY car, like the bashing of the "Mako turbo wide body" Seems some forums have members that their pastime is finding customs & posting them only to bash them, I don't like all customs myself but I don't feel it's right to post and bash customs, on the other side of the coin I would love to see a gallery where all custom C-3's are welcome.
While I moderate this Mako forum I will not allow bashing in any way.|sad|

As far as what is a "Mako shark 2," depends on who you ask but really a Mako shark 2 was the GM show car to display what the new model year was to look like, features did carry over to the 1968 model year, that's why many people call 68-82 vettes "shark" bodied.
GM only had one running Mako Shark 2 and it was re styled into the GM Manta ray so that's the end of the line for the GM Mako Shark 2.
The Maco (spelling changed to avoid copyright problems) was John Silvas rebody based on the look of the GM show car.
Silva teamed with Motion for a short time with a few turn key Motion Macos being sold.
Motion along with at least one other I know of made molds off Silvas original parts so we have that branch of this tree.
Some people are more particular about what they allow to be called a "Maco", to put an even finer point on that a person would have to accept that the only true Maco is one either built by or with Silvas full kit and not further customized in any way past the way Silva built the molds, which is tough since it appears that even Silva himself changed things along the way, for example two round tail lights or firebird tail lights. With or without the rear louvers.
The fact is I have never seen two "Maco"s that were just alike they are all customs and all have there own personalties.
So for me I'm far more open to what I will accept as a Maco/Mako shark 2 rebody/custom.|headscratch|

Cheers, T.

I agree, the bashing thing shows you just how people are. I know of one 69 L/88 car that got all the awards, Bloomington Gold, NCRS Duntov, etc. It was a wonderful car and people all loved it and talked about just how neat it was. The only thing was, the car was a built car! Thats right folks, the only thing orig. L/88 was the serial number and the trim tag. Hey, thats a custom in my book, so you see, different people have different ideas. One thing about a shark, you will not be accused of trying to build something to fool anyone nor take advantage. They are what they are, a very cool custom. They were build to resemble the GM showcar, and if its good enough for GM, then its good enough for me.

You hit the nail on the head Randy,
With the ton of vette parts companies selling everything a person needs any rare vette can be totally built and depending on how many parts a person has "laying around" a "fake" L-88 could be built for a fraction of the price of a true one.
Look at Ebay, they are so many L-88 parts on there far more than GM ever built. hum.... |headscratch|
