Last year, there was talk of simply hanging out at the C3VR parking area and BBQing for dinner in 2017 instead of going to a restaurant. While I personally really like this idea, it is certainly logistically more complex... we have to get a grill, coal/propane, food, drink, etc and purchase and bring it all in. And I guess the biggest concern would be what if it rains?

UPDATE 7/24: Friday night plans are set. Please scroll through this thread to see questions about where to go Saturday night!
I'd like to get some thoughts on this quickly, as we need to make some plans soon, especially if we're going to make reservations at a restaurant or two. Hopefully it isn't too late for that.

My vote is to find another eatery in place of the Rustic Tavern and eat at the Pizzeria.
Adam makes a good case of why we normally eat out but I'll eat anywhere & anytime.
I always had good meals at RT and I like traditions, but if we want to try something different, that's fine with me.
Some suggestions:
1794 The Whiskey Rebellion
Market Cross Pub and Brewery
Redd's Smokehouse BBQ
Saturday night I will be in the parade again and eat downtown with some other friends.

I'm fine with the Rustic Tavern. I'm also fine with choosing a different restaurant. I'd prefer not to do a cook out. I think the risk of rainy weather is to large.

Out an abundance of paranoia, I just callled Pizza Grille and booked us for Friday night @ 6pm.
That leaves Saturday open. I'll wait to see if we get some more replies here to figure out what to do that night.

Our Corvette club eats at Market Cross on Saturday to watch the parade afterward. It is good food but very crowded.
For Friday night you could try the Appalachian Brewing Company. Large place to accommodate the group and good food. Also good parking.
Adam,
I hope to attend with my car FINALLY this year and I will go with whatever everyone else wants. I've never seen the parade so the option to eat along the parade route sounds good to me. PS Where is everyone staying? I have a reservation here, any good?

I will be staying at Wanda's, just outside gate 3.
Private room with a view of the turnpike.
Dual flap AC.
Walking distance to breakfast.
BOT- I love pizza and beer.

Lesa and I have always enjoyed the Pizza Grille, so we'll join you Friday evening.
The Rustic Tavern has been hit and miss. If the club goes there Saturday evening we may go along, but we're also going to look at other options.
