Topic: Crunched Door
in Forum: C3VR at Major Corvette Events
Thanks. I forgot to mention how tough our cars are. The door took the whole shot. The fenders got scratched while getting the two apart. He refused to back up so I had to move forward (scrape) a bit, then back up (scrape) to get away from him so I could get out of the car. No impact damage to the sill, none to the interior of the door, no frame problems, nothing. Just the door skin cracked and crushed and side window glass broken. The door opens and closes and latches, locks, etc. Actually, I would have fixed the door because it is still very ridgid, but bodyshop labor, etc. ya know. I did smile when the wrecker showed up for the 18 wheeler to pull his bumper away from his front tire so he could move. Bent it solidly into his tire, bent his fender, and screwed some other little stuff up a bit. All we had to do was get in and drive off. Sometimes there is satisfaction in the smallest things and at the oddest times

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Glad ya'll were at least stopped when this happened! If he had been moving any faster....

Ya, our cars are pretty tough...at least the '73 up cars have the heavy side beams in the doors.
Could've been worse...could've had a tree fall on ya, from what I hear!
