It is my understanding that folks at Funfest stole the banners that were on the berm near the concert area. These banners were indicators of the winners of each class of judging.
It is my opinion that it is disgusting that people felt it was ok to take these banners with them. I don't know who is responsible. I hope it wasn't C3VR members. Also, I think people get a "mob mentality" and if they see one person taking a banner, they think "ok, well, if he's doing it, I'm going to." I'm sure Mid America spent plenty of money to produce those banners. They hold this great event, largely for free. Food/drink prices are reasonable, they have a free concert and have plenty of cool stuff to do and see while you are at the show. People should have some respect for the host and leave their property alone.
I really hope this does not happen again next year.

Last year was the first year my wife and I both went to the Fun fest and met C3VR members. We had a pretty fair time. We sat and talked to several people. I am so glad my wife was not able to go with me this year. I parked my car next to all of yours and walked over to everyone under the tents and said Hi. People just looked at me and kept talking among themselves. Later I went by the booth and introduced (re-introduced ) myself and you shook my hand and then started talking to someone else. Later I gave it one more try at the tents. I walked over and tried to make small talk but those there just stared at me. I felt pretty unwelcome. I am sure no-one meant to be so unfriendly but I didn't feel very welcome. Good luck with your organization. I am not angry or upset. I realize that things happen. I just thought you all should hear my take on being a new member. I have decided to get more involved with my local club and wanted you all to know why.. is all.

Regarding the taking of the banners, I agree that was disgraceful.
That would be like going to a hotel for free and taking the towels.
I'm not sure how people can sleep at night.
They obviously don't have any ethics.
I guess when you get that many people to one event, the rotten apples will show up.
Too bad. It could ruin it for the rest of us.
FlyingGem- Sorry about your experience. Don't give up on us based on those snooty people that ignored you. I'm sure they didn't mean to brush you off.

Hi Jim, I'm sorry to hear of your experience. I had to reread your story to be sure you were speaking of C3VR members. The situation you described seems so untypical of the friends I've come to know in this large expanded family (via the internet, I don't get out much), and I'm certain it was no ones intention to allow anyone, much less a member, to feel unwelcome. It's the passion that we share that draws us together, and while many of us are locally active with other clubs, we still maintain our worldwide connection to the C3 family for Info and so on. We didn't mean to be thoughtless that day. We hope you'll hang with us and get to know us better bro

Ya know what, now that I think about it, maybe it was Tux's friends. I'm not saying they are a rude bunch of folks, but they are not members of C3VR and therefore didn't really understand who you where. Tux had quite a large group of his friends there. Were they people you speak of wearing C3VR shirts or anything that easily identified them as C3VR folk? If not, maybe they weren't. Also, the CAC tent was really close to the C3VR tent. I got confused at first and thought the CAC tent was ours.
Like Jimmy said, I"m having a hard time with it being C3VR members. It sounds very unlike folks in our group.

I can tell by these responses that you are definitely not the folks I ran into. I must apologize. I really felt that the people I spoke with didn't care if I was there are not. And I agree it didn't seem like the folks we had so much fun cutting up with the year before.
My apologies, I am sure Adam is correct. I must have tried to cozy up to the CAC folks. I didn't see any C3VR shirts except when you'all were in the booth. And, that did seem pretty hectic.

Jim, I think I saw your car parked one isle above ours with the C3VR club parking pass in the windshield. If you are who I think you are , you were parked in the wrong place. I went to ask Tux to try and pull up your tag number on the site to see who it was that was parked in the wrong row with a C3VR parking pass. If that was indeed your car, that probably explains it, if not I apologize if maybe I was one of the ignoring people, sometimes I have a one track mind.
C3VR peole are some of the most friendly people on the net in person and online. I hope to meet you at another event sometime in the future !!
We should be at Classic Corvette Reunion on Saturday in Bowling Green if you can make it.

Adam, that was just part of what happened this weekend. It is so sad that those things go on . I have always felt safe and proud being in the presence of the "Corvette Crowd" Its just sad.
The actual club signs were ok to take from what I was told , the will not be used again next year and would be thrown away but the banners should not have been touched.
Next year I will wear my large azz kickers and try to watch for some of this behavior...

C3VR had only one 10X10 tent set up.
The three black tents together was CAC and there were people there that I didn't even know this year.
The next row of multiple tents was where the car in question was parked that i refered to in the other post that had the C3VR parking pass in the windshield.
Hope this helps clear this up for you...
