Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed
Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.
2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
I have my marching orders. In order to be in Sweden to meet with the customer on Monday morning (and to make a few other plans work), I need to be at the Indy airport to fly out around 11am on Saturday of Funfest. Given that Effingham is three hours from the Indy airport (2 hrs on the road and one hour of time change), Candi and I will have a very limited time @ Funfest this year.
Regardless, we're already paid and we still want to go anyway. Plan is to go over Thursday afternoon and get registered and see the fun run then be there all day Friday and leave first thing Sat am.
Three questions:
1. Who is going that will be there at least by Friday night?
2. Of those that will be there, who would be interested in dinner @ Neimerg's (assuming the Days Inn isn't cooking)?
And here's the one that I can't believe I'm asking
3. How much sacrilege will it be to not drive the Vette to Funfest?
- With the need to get to the airport on time, a 37 year old car doesn't give me the greatest confidence
- Since I will be in Europe well over a week, I need a big suitcase - big suitcase plus 74 Corvette Convertible equals oxymoron
I just think this is my best case scenario at this point...
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Wow your guna loose some hair over this! I do not mind if you do not drive the vette.

But seeing you run through the airport like ...what was his name.... OJ would be PRICELESS
So do not call it a trip to funfest just call it Fest.
I'm sure you can make it fun without the car...just act like a wana bee or have that picture of your car out front of MAM put on a tee shirt and wear it there.....

Hey Marshall.......Sorry that your work schedule is conflicting with Funfest. The customer in Sweden must not realize what is going on in Effingham that weekend.
In my opinion, you are making a monumental effort for the love of Corvettes
.

I hope to be at Funfest on Friday afternoon, and would be happy to meet you for dinner Friday nite.
Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I'm sure others will respond.
See you in a couple of weeks.

Forgot to mention this in the previous post. Sorry.
I think it would be a tremendous Sacrilege not to drive the 74 convertable to Funfest, HOWEVER, I must admit that I have been to several Funfests without TargaBlue and I have survived. It takes time to get over it. As ebo
says, just get a T shirt and act like a wanna-be.
