Here is a link with a guided tour by Chief Cheerleader Mike Yager of this years Funfest. Participants will also be receiving a nice hardbound book . This would make a nice coffee table item in your great room along with those other pieces of Corvette history we all have out for viewing pleasure. Enjoy the tour and I hope to see you there!
Better enjoy this one. Next year might be a new SAGA
I tell ya it is true, what some of the complaints are. I was lookin for a hotel room and rates are 2x what they would normally be for a room. We had to reserve a room in Decater and will have to drive the 40 miles to get there. Some of the hotels also had a minimum 2 night stay, which I find kinda bogus since I was not planning on 2 nights.

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

Very interesting Tux. "Larger city East of Effingham..." That would certainly put it out of Illinios.
It would be a shame to see it move. I would think it would cost more in the long run to move it...
I didn't make my reservations until about 2 weeks ago (I know, but I was still trying to finalize if I would go, and I always have a back up of either day-tripping from Indy, or staying with my dad in Urbana, IL). I was able to get my rtoom with hotel points through Hilton, but I am 40 miles up the road in Spitoon (ok, Mattoon).

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Interesting article Tux! Well, there goes the free admission, free camping, and dirt-cheap entertainment. Mike puts on a great show, and I'm sure he's aware of the motel rate rip-off that's going on. It's too bad, part of the fun is being on MAM's grounds. Bloomington, here we come....

Following the link to MAM's site, there is a section marked Funfest 2009. When you go there, it says "Date and Location Announcements Coming Soon"

One more thing folks - if you've considered coming to this event, DO IT!! The weather this weekend in the mid-west couldn't be better for a nice Vette drive. Last year, I did the day trip thing and didn't regret it.

WOW!
Look at some of the comments posted below the article....sounds like some folks might be just a wee bit jealous of Mike & Co...
"Mike...Guess I was wrong about you. You, who with much more money than many people in Effingham County, want to take one of the few good things away from the community because it operates at a loss? "
I didn't see where Mike said he was considering moving it because of loosing money...my understanding is he wanted to move to keep the local hotels from gouging his customers....
I guess it's a good thing I'll be there at the last FunFest in Effingham...

My sources are telling me that the reference to the city east of here city is Indianapolis... LOTS OF BARTERING GOING ON! Big $$$ is at the table.
This would make good sense for the Motorsports Capital of the World to hold this event.
