very awsome sound in deed.  I had that same feeling when I fired mine up for the first time, truly the sound I wanted.   The best part of the chambered system,  my daughter, who has celerbral palsy, didn't really like riding in corvette when we first got it, but the first time she rode in it after the pipes were on it she squealed and laughed so loud, it was the greatest feeling.

congrads on your new sound, enjoy them.

LOL....
Let me know how you feel after running an hour or two with the tops on...or one hour with the tops on and the windows up...

Honestly I have a set of Chambered exhausts on my 72 Convertible right now....TOOK THEM OFF the 79 Coupe becuase they were unbearable with the tops on the car...also installed them on my 76 Coupe with the same result...

Its not like I have great hearing...hell I am completely deaf in one ear

On a Copnvertible they "worK"... or I would not have spent the money
to put  chambered exhaust on my 64 convertible... BUT at least in my case they DO NOT WORK on either of my coupes...

Just my thoughts...

What makes the chambered exhaust different than a "normal" exhaust system? I have headers and otherwise stock pipes with the exception of no converter.
Although I wouldn't enjoy something louder I am curious as to what makes these different.

Get "onthe gas" with  a car with Chambered Exhaust pipes and YOU WILL KNOW before you get to 5 Mph...

Seriously I run chambered exhausts in both
my 64 & 72 Convertibles...

BUT  NOT in any of my coupes...

The pipes are the exact same design (and effect) as The pipes on Mid Year Side pipe cars...

There IS NO MUFFLER...other then the dimples in the exhaust pipes themselves...sort of like running NO Exhaust as you can get...LOL

I heard chambered exhaust on an '82 two years ago.
Very throaty when idleing.
I guess I should ride in it for an hour before I commit to putting them on mine.

I don't have chambered exhaust pipes.  But I do have Aero Chamber mufflers.  I think they are actually louder than Captn Bill's chamber system.  They are an actual chamber muffler.  You can see through them.

I have Magnaflow mufflers which are straight through design and are relatively quiet unless you get on it. I have often wondered what chambered would sound like, hopefully I can find one at one of the local car shows to test hear the sound. Exhaust sound is a real personal preference thing. Personally I love the sound of a throaty cobra, I wish I could get my vette to sound like that.

I would say they would be somewhat louder with headers I have stock manifolds. My Wife complained about $324.00 for the system, but after one criuse in the the car she loved the sound!

I can't tell my car is any louder than a friends which doesn't have headers. This is my first experience with chambered exhaust but I've had several midyear corvettes with side exhaust and I don't think there's too much difference in the noise level.

That being said, I must admit that I just turned 61 and my hearing might not be what it used to be.

My friends 73 coupe with headers and chambered exhaust was way too loud! He lived in a townhome community and was always getting stinkeye from his one neighbor. We simply added correct 73 mufflers to it, big improvement, still sounds great, too. Me, I prefer the car makes the statement, not the noise from it. I have headers and duals on one of mine and it couldn't sound any better. On another, simply replacing the cat with a test pipe improved the sound. Ran that one once in the barn with the rear Y pipe and mufflers off but the cat still on. Was almost as quite as normal because of the cat. My motivation for dumping it.   Mike

I wonder what a chambered exhaust would sound like with my 454? I am installing a slightly larger cam in it this winter....  should sound pretty darn good I'd think....

right now the car has a pretty quiet set of mufflers on it..... I want my neighbors to know when I fire up the vette!!!!! they sure as heck like to run thier leaf blowers at dinner time!!!

Tongue not like I have any friends around here anyway, they all consider me the "army guy with all the cars"... even though I am Air Force and only have a few cars, all GM

I'll see how much $$$ I have left after the engine detail and 454 top end rebuild.

Dave, you're close enough... bring it down for me to hear LOL

Lynne, if you happen to have any sound clips or video that shows what your  chambered exhaust sounds like, I would LOVE to hear it.

Ya I'd like to hear it as well. Been thinking about side pipe headers but chambered would work and no burning. Sound without burn. Works for me!Hug

Dave...if you have a digital camera capable of video...just take a short video of the car idling, revving, and driving.  that's how most people show off their exhaust.  aside from that...I couldn't tell ya.  audio recorder of some kind.  but I'm thinking about chambered exhaust on the stingray, so I'd love to know what it sounds like from a GOOD QUALITY file (the files on some websites out there are terrible quality and sound awful.)
