Take the exhaust loose at the manifold so the engine will hang a little, but first, loosen/remove the dist. cap.
The shifter has to come out first...or you can just unhook all of the linkages(take pics first!), and find some way to tie/hold the shifter up inside, so it's not hanging down in the way.
Drain the gear lube out first, if your trans has a drain plug.
Don't drop it on yer tootsies...that herts...
Once the trans is unbolted, you'll have to twist/turn it to get it back far enough to clear the bellhousing...btw...don't try to take the trans AND bellhousing out as one unit....you'll learn some new werds that Mama may not enjoy....

Be sure to have a jack or some other means of supporting the rear of the engine so it can be jacked up/down as needed.
And most improtantly,
Don't drop it on yer feets...that HERTS!!
HD clutch? Why? Trying to beef up yer leg muscles?

Unless yer runnin nitrous, a blower, or turbo, or otherwise have massive amounts of torque, I see no need to replace the clutch with anything other than a stock set-up. That's just me, tho. Other may have differing opinions....

Whatch da piggys! and do put a jack under the motor. Once got a good deal on a CJ (Jeep) this way. had a nice plow the kid sellin the jeep said the clutch cable broke when he was plowin so I got him down to 300 bucks. Had brought a floor jack along with us to check it out. After we paid him we asked if he had a piece of 2x4.... he gave us a piece of firewood we jacked up the back of the trany popped the clutch pedal arm back into the ball on the frame, stuck the firewood between the cylinder head and the fire wall let the jack down....fired it up and put er in gear and drove it out of his driveway......should have seen his face......as I passed him I said CJ's aint got no Clutch cables son........
The shield protectin the trany also hold's the tranny in place the bolts had broken loose.....
I also would draw a picture of the linkage......darn rods never want to go back the same way...
