Yeah, I saw those in my email mail box.  Ecklers sent an email on all their new stuff for all the generations.  Pretty neat tool.   There have been a number of posts on here about cables breaking and how to get the hood open.

I may have to get one of these. A guy at work has a '79 that the hood release took a crap on him and he ordered some kind of tool to open the hood, so from someone elses bad experience this might be the way to go before the same thing happens. Aaron19762008-08-13 00:22:46

WHERE WAS HIS WHEN I NEEDED IT!  I THINK THIS MIGHT BE A NECESSARY PURCHASE

This may be what I need.  I logged in to ask what to do when your hood won't open.  My problem is not the cable, it's working fine.  The darn thing just won't let go on driver's side, while passenger side pops right up.

The cables have to be put on before the problem occurs.

Thanks for the info!  i spoke to a body shop friend of mine this afternoon; he got a good chuckle and said it was a very common problem.  I'm taking the info from the link and will try to work on it tonight, or body shop guy said he would help.  You guys are a great help.

It took a trip to the body shop to get the hood open.  it wasn't the cable at all.  The pin was stuck in the hole and just wouldn't release on the driver's side only.  With the passenger side popped up, we were able to get it raised enough to get a tool in there and jiggle that pin to release.  There for a little while we thought we were going to have to unscrew the hood from the front supports so we could move it back and forth.

SAME PROBLEM I HAD. BIT I HAD TO UNSCREW THE FRONT TO GET IT OPEN. gLAD YOU GOT !

Just printed this Robert. Very good advise. I've heard of guy's going through this nightmare. I think I'll make sure my cables are healthy also.
