THE DYNAMIC DUO

Being in the Quarter horse/cow/rancher business, plus, being a contractor I have seen, driven and owned a lot of Diesel trucks and this is my 2 cents worth. I now own two Ford F-350'. One is a 99 that I bought in 98. After I bought it I put in the 100 h.p. chip, exhaust, larger intake, and a few other mods. This truck has left me stranded more than all other vehicles I've owned in my life put together.( 5 times) I've also limped it home a few times. I'm on my 5th transmission. The last two were supposed to be "bullet proof". Got 11 months from the first one. Had the last one for three years now, but, I've put less than 10k on the truck in that time. Just sits out by the barn with the horse trailer in permament hook-up. Fastest most powerful junk I've ever had. The other Ford that I've got has been slightly more dependable. It's a 03 and will never be modified. I've also sold one Stroker. These trucks seem to always have issues with glow plugs, injectors, cam sensors, glow plug relays, etc. In 05 I bought a 3500 Dodge w/ 5.9 cummings. 85,000 plus miles on it and it's never been to the shop. I pull horse trailers, utility trailers and one real big boat 16,000 plus lbs. I got 10 miles to the gallon pulling that boat from northern Utah to Lake Mead. 8 miles to the gallon coming back. It's a grade coming back. Been such a good truck I just bought another one for one of my employees. All the people I know who drive the D-MAX love them. They rave about the Allison. I personally like the new body style, but, you have to put at least four inches of lift kit in them to make them look like a real truck. Seriously, for offroad use they are prone to high center because they sit so low. For highway cruisers I think they are great. My Fords have all been 7.3 motors. I have dozens of friends, business associates, ranching associates that have bought Fords with the 6.0. Three, that I know of ,have returned them on the lemon law. As far as I know the have a 100% failure rate. Worse, I've got two friends that are replacing engines at less than 150,00 miles. Diesel motors are expensive. Hopfully for Ford, their new 6.4 is a better motor.
