'66 was the last year of the 389 as well as the Tri-power option. In '67 the 400 became the standard engine.
Well Skip stopped over tonight after work.I must say that it is very well built.Trunk mounted battery with cover made to NHRA specs.Remote oiling system,Be cool rad.Headers,Auto trans with shift kit,Fiberglass hood. You could eat off the engine. The po took great care with the wireing underhood. The only visiable wire is the alt.and it's tucked in by the spark plug wires that hug the block.Car is the original GTO dark red/morrune(sp)black interior with a nice array of in dash guages with real wood surround.8 inch crager S/S all around on BFG rubber. We haven't ran the engine #'s yet.Don't know why the po painted the engine gold?I thought they were blue. The po used all new sheet metal and trim/grill ect.We went for a ride and he really didn't want to get on it too much but he did enough to tell it's got toqure and lots of it.He stole that car for $25,000. zgator 2007-02-08 16:26:08
