When I was in "grade school" I was taught that these things would be available in 1980. What is taking so long?

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

And yet, there is only anamations, no actual footage of a working vehicle. Is it real or speculation? Will it be real?
I have to admit it's interesting. Will enough people get pilot lic to make production worthwhile?
It could be very interesting for long distance commutors and business folks who travel a bit. I can't see it for cross country trips, not enough air speed to get there quick, I'm guessing. And the operator will need to get some rest before the business meeting.
I wonder how much $ that thing will run? Forget about Insurance!!!!

The thing is considered as an Light Airplane. 1,700 ft for take off to get over a 50ft tree, house in the way, powerlines whateveris in the way.
It doesn't sound good for the local commuter.
I need one that works straight up, then forward motion.
I remember back in the '70s, Popular Mechanics had an article about a flying Ford Pinto. The guy would send you the plans to build one. At least he didn't have to worry about those nasty explosions from a rear end hit!
