I read a downer of a news article today. Dyno Don Nicholson died and so did Wally Parks' wife. Dyno Don was a big Chevy guy back in the day, and Barbra Parks kept Wally goin to get NHRA running.

DYNO DON WAS A BIG FAVORITE OF THE FANS, NO DOUBT. IN REALITY THOUGH, HE WAS A CHEAP SKATE JERK WHO STIFFED A LOT OF PEOPLE.  HE WAS KNOWN FOR NEVER PICKING UP A CHECK AT DINNER (THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY HAYDEN PROFFITT AT THE 409 REUNION IN K.C. IN 2004) AND NOT PAYING THE PEOPLE WHO WORKED FOR HIM. I KNOW THIS FIRST HAND FROM A RELATIVE OF MINE WHO WORKED FOR HIM IN THE LATE 80'S - EARLY 90'S WHEN HE WAS BARNSTORMING WITH HIS '62 BUBBLETOP. A LOT OF PEOPLE DID NOT GET PAID, HE LEFT BEHIND A STRING OF UNPAID BILLS AT SHOPS ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND HOTELS.

THERE WILL BE A LONG LINE AT HIS GRAVE..........

Remember the name growing up as a pioneer in the sport of drag racing. But if he was truly as you describe in his personal life, screw him !!

Wow......I remember the guy as being very easy to get along with. In the late '60's, early '70s, he helped us with a few tuning tips on our cars. Never went to dinner with him, or worked for him; he never owed me any money, tho. Bummer......
