Never owned one, but sure worked on a ton of them!
Actually, the '88-89s were finally figured out, and were(would've been) what GM wanted them to be in the first place.

Compared to a 'Vette? No thanx!
I can barely even get into one of them, much less actually drive one around!

(be sure to wear your shin guards! )

btw...this should be in the "General Non-Vette Discussion..."Adams' Apple38924.7086342593

Vette(s): #1 -1969 Corvette Coupe Riverside Gold, black interior,MN,A/C,350/350,PS,PB,window cranks. #2 -2000 C5, black/black, 6 sp, Bose system & lots of buttons.

I know several people that owned a Fiero.  Neither one of those people I talked to liked them.

Don't take this personal, please!

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.

I've owned 2 Fiero GTs. The first was a 1986 that I bought new. GM ended up buying it back after I took them to arbitration. I loved the car for what is was but got a lemon the first time. My second was a 1988 GT that I bought New. It was a great little car, lots better suspension than the earlier models.. I don't think you can compare them to a vette since, if I remember correctly, the 6 cylinder GT was 150HP. They sure were fun to drive though.

I used to have a little 4 banger. That thing was fun as hell! I ragged the hell out of it though. Wouldnt mind owning another, if nothing else there are a ton of Kit bodies you can stick on em. Also combine that with a 350 drop in kit and those things can fly!

Fly? You mean "Fly apart?"
Good luck finding a transaxle to stand up behind(beside?) a V-8!! Also, the sub-frames on those cars were crap to begin with, even tho the last year cars were the most advanced. They were "over powered" with the V6!! I guess iffin ya had enough $$$, time, and patience, it could be done, and survive.

this is a hard topic for me as fiero  performance has been an integral part of my life for years.
I suppose that I need to dispell a few "misconceptions" about the fiero first....
1 the fiero was made from 84 - 88

2 only some 84 fiero's had "bad rods" that would cause fier issues.(after cracking the block)

3 my 87 fiero GT is faster (according to real life and road and tracks) than my 77 vette.

4 If you want to see some 10 second 1/4 mile fiero go to

www.fiero.nl

to be more specific.. look here.

BTW, the 87 - 88 fiero have a 5 speed that will take 400 + hp ALL day long..
the 4 speed muncie is good for 400 as well
I do not want to turn this into a vette vs fiero thread. just wondering if anyone ever owned one... I like both my vette's and fieros... and my jeep and 300c

a co worker of mine showed me a website that sells kits to install a v-8 small block into a fiero- practical-no, cool-hell yeah!!

click this link:

http://dtcc.cz28.com/LT1build/index.htm

alot of people use these as donor cars for kit projects like baby lambos or ferarris. i was never really fond of them since the quality was not great, but if you like to tinker around, its a cool project car. nothing sounds stranger than hearing a v8 roar coming from a little car like that. as for which is faster- corvette or fiero- a corvette would be faster against a stock hopped up v-6, but i think it would be a close call if you had a v8 tpi in one of those little cars!

in 1984, they even had a indy pace car (gasp!)
