Topic: Attention all Veterans
in Forum: General Non-Vette Discussion
Starting on Veterans day next month, all Veterans (not Vetterans 😃) and Gold Star families will be given free entrance to National Parks. This is permanent, not just for Veterans Day.
Thanks, Gary, just won't be going anywhere in the near future. Yes, I am a veteran, retired USMC.
8 year veteran in the Air Force here working on/with C-141's at McGuire AFB.
They came up with this free entrance a bit too late for me. I paid $60 for the Senior Lifetime Pass back about 5-6 years ago and it has paid for itself several times since I got it. Spent 4 days touring Yellowstone N.P. last year at $30 a day so getting the free pass is well worth it.

Thank you for sharing. Its nice to know that some people actually appreciate the Military and what they do for this country! Perks like these really show that appreciation. God bless!

I got mine about 6 years ago when they were $15. But if you lose it, you have to buy another one. No free replacement and now they are $80. Still worth it, but this deal is even better....free!
4 years flying in Navy P-3C Orions -- back then veterans were far from honored -- I'm glad the countries attitude has changed since!
8 years US Army ('72 - '80). Nuke Weapons Tech (we glowed in the dark...).
Got my Senior lifetime pass 7 years ago for $10. My wife got hers 2 years ago and paid $80. We take our camper to the Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Lake Lanier & get 1/2 off the nightly site fee. Pass has definitely paid for itself many times over.
