We bought "BIGBRRD" in the October of 2004 and drove it straight to the storage facility I'd been keeping "The Toy" at for several winters. The project work began in the spring of 2005 when I pulled the radiator to have it rebuilt, replaced the exhaust system, and then rebuilt the front and rear suspension. The 'real' project began when it headed over to the body shop on Father's Day weekend in 2006 and has been there ever since.
Don't know that there will be any burnouts done anytime soon but I'm sure it would be capable of some. btw - the two pics I posted above are clickable for larger versions.
The original "Bandit" was a '77 SE. "BIGBRRD" is a 'plain Jane' '78 TA, with a few options. MYs '77 and '78 were very close to being identical visually but the '78 had the edge in performace as horsepower started to make its return. The grill changed in '79 for the last time in the 2nd gen and that version was the star in the 2nd S.A.T.B. movie.
Gonna have to start turning over some rocks lookin' for that "Ol' Snowman" purdy soon...!!!
Spent another day at the shop puttin' on parts. Finished up under the hood and actually fired it up for a few minutes. Plenty loud without the headers connected to the pipes...!!! Will go back on Wednesday to put the hood on and some more graphics. Decided today to leave the "Screamin' Chicken" off the hood for the time being. Wayne isn't happy with the way the base/clear is setting up on the hood and wants to rework it later in the fall. Then leave that setup over the winter and put the decal on next spring.
Here's a couple more pics from today (both are clickable for larger versions). Sure is nice to see it sittin' on the Snowflakes again...!!!
