Vette(s): 1973 coupe Under Construction
I have a ski boat with a ford 351 and a holley 4 barrel carb that I just put in the water today. Right now when I start it it runs fine cold, but once it warms up it idles very fast. After running at 3500 for about a minute it idles even faster, between 1200 and 1800 rpm. I have decent mechanical ability and really want to learn how to adjust a holley carb since I have one sitting in the garage that will eventually go into my 73. Does anyone know a good source for a how to or just some advice?

Take the Holley off, stick it on a 454 Chevy, and install it in the boat.
It sounds like you have a vaccuum leak, very possibly at the base gasket between the carb and the intake. I assume the carb has a choke on it?
With the choke closed, and the engine cold, it is getting extra air from a vaccuum leak, but its still cold. Once it warms up, and the choke opens, the idle will rise, because of the extra air. I'd look for a vac. leak somewhere.
