I wouldn't DARE put a two post lift on asphalt, but the scissor lift would probably only put wheel dents in the blacktop. I really dig the portability of it, if indeed it does have wheels. The Complete Hydraulics lift seems semi-permanent without wheels.

dave it is mobile. when it is down it has a peg on one side where the
hydraulic unit hooks in and when you lift the end up it rolls
around. the scissor lift needs a hard flat surface to go up
and down as when it is lifting the legs roll to the middle. i would
imagine any lift should be on convrete as asphalt will not stay true.

Interesting reading about the sissors life. Question for those who have one...when the car is up at full height and you start banging away on the frame or torquing a bolt, does the car sway?
I'm concerned about the stability because it looks like the support members that roll on the floor are not a wide as the car. I don't want to crawl under something that is top heavy and unstable.

It's very stable. I haven't done any major torquing with it up yet. If I have to do anything severe, I'll probably lower it so I can have jack stands underneath as an extra precaution. A healthy dose of paranoia is a good thing when doing anything under a raised vehicle.

i have had mine since nov. i always check each time when i raise it for
solidity. i will never get too confident as that is when accidents
happen. the arms that actually contact the frame go over the frame of
the lift so technically there is only about 6" that doeshang over. whe
i have the car lifted about 2' off the ground i shake it (hard ) to
make sure it's solid. when i have it all the way up before going under
i do the same. i had to pry up on the exhaust pipe to line up the
headers i replaced and with the force i used the car didn't show any
signs of wobble. truth is i was surprised myself how sturdy it holds
the car. as with anything, if you take your time and make sure
everything is right in my opinion it is as safe as anything out there.
unfortunately i can't take a pic right this minute of the car raised
but i think it is one of the best investments i made.

We're pouring concrete next week and the garage should go up the week after. I decided against asphalt, and am glad....

I've bought things from Greg Smith before & plan on purchasing a 2 post lift from him in the near future. I'm lucky that his new showroom is only 5 minutes away. Looks like a good lift at a good price.

I've got an old Rotary 7000 lift that came out of an old Plymouth shop, gave the guy 1200 for it. Best money I ever spent, except for my compressor. Mine is a 2 poster, love it as I rebuild trailing arms and beats the crap outa jack-stands. Just my opinion-Flandy
