The Doctor is definitely in!

Where else are ya gonna find such a concise, easy-to-read-and-understand, informative wrap-up on such a complex topic than this one, from Ken, on good ol' C3VR.

Thanks for filling us all in/setting us all straight.

(Call me cracked...but I for one will be sticking to that 91 octane stuff for the L48... )

You are welcome.  And Thank you.

I still use 87 octane in my L48, even after the build up.
Due to the difference in heat and temperature, sometimes low octane works better.  It lights easily and can start easy at cold temp, and may burn more completely than a slower burning high octane.

But the slower burn high octane may provide more heat, and does as long as it's hot enough to make a complete burn.

Run what ever it likes better.  If it runs equally, use the cheaper stuff.
Yes I'm cracked, but on what scale?  Confused  LOL

I don't have guts enough to run 87 octane in my ZZ-4 with 34 degrees of total timing in the '78 silver fox being too deaf to recognize detonation, but I am happy running regular in the L-82 out of it in my old '38 Poncho.......

Percentage-wise, ethyl ain't that much more than regular now that gas prices have gone thru the roof, but it's still the same twenty+ cents a gallon higher.

BTW.... I think most of us on this forum are a little bit cracked....

Dave
