I learned to drive on a combination of a 68 Rebel wagon, a 62 American, 58 chevy 1/2 ton, 68 Cornet, 57 Metropolitan, and my first car that had been my grandmothers my 64 Comet

The 64 Comet was a 4 door, 200 cube one bbl, two speed automatic. Would not spin it's tires on wet pavement if you tried. Great mileage. Lots of rust. I actually called it my trusty rusty.
Manual steering that changed my dates with Debbie. When we were in high school, it was usually my left on the steering wheel, my right arm around her. Until she tried to drive it one time. Never before with manual steering, her first corner almost put us in a front yard. After her fourth turn she stopped the car, and never drove it again. She swore it did not want to turn. After that she always wanted me to drive it with two hands.
My next cars both had buckets seats. A 66 Grand Prix with an automatic. A 67 LeMans with a 4 speed. I told her instead of riding the bus to work she could have either car she wanted to drive. We were not yet married. She didn't want the GP, it was too large. And the other had a clutch. She chose the bus.
Then came the 69 Fury II retired police undercover car. Man that thing was a beast. But it was full power, and she could drive it with no problems, so I could use one arm again. Owned that one when we got married.
At this point I have owned over 40 different cars. Most were a second car to fix up while driving it to work, then sell it to make some cash. So several were short lived. Many stayed much longer.

I learned to drive on a tractor too.
The first vehicle I learned to drive was a manual 1974 Ford F150. It was white with red interior.
For my high school graduation in 1982, my parents bought me a 1979 Chevy Malibu, It was a 4 door, silver with maroon interior, and a maroon vinyl top. I thought it was a big fancy "family car", and never was in love with it.
In 1984 I bought my first car, a 1979 Corvette. It was white with dark green interior, and that started my love affair with Corvettes.

I drove a 71 Nova with a straight six from age 16-20. That was a fun car, although it was terrible in rain and snow. Had to put weight in the rear for traction. Had a underdash cassette and an FM converter with my Jensen speakers!

Learned to drive in my Mom's Pinto, yellow with a black vinal top. My friends called it the bruised banana. Very embarassing to a high school kid. 2 months later found a 68 GTO, 400 ,4 speed, hidden headlights, buckets, console, for $800. Now I was cool, never lost a race in high school. Just like everyone else sure wish I still had that GOAT.

I was teaching myself driving at 1 AM. I stole (borrowed) my dad's car while he was on vacation. I was 16 at the time and no-one had the time or patience to teach me. My brother was sleeping, when I took the car out. I got pulled over in another city. They were looking for kids burglerizing. As I pulled down the narrow street, the cops were in the middle of it. I pulled into a drive to turn around when thet backed up to block me. They asked for my license. I told them it was back at home. They told me to get out of the car. My shoes were grass covered from cutting grass. They checked the trunk, there were all kinds of gardening tools, which my father was using at my grandparents' house. The cops thought that I had dropped a friend off........and that we were stealing gardening tools from back yards. They towed the car and theatened me all night long to come clean. I told them I was teaching myself to drive. They couldn't believe that. They sent me to Juvenile Court. They nailed me to the cross there.

Wow, this goes way back... my first car was a 55 Chevy, primer brown with a bright orange passenger door, chrome wheels and a 3 speed in the floor, 8 track, no wipers or gas gauge... and yes I had to park it on a hill or cross over the starter

Ok here's the scoop. About a year before I turned 16 my parents were trying out used cars. One day my dad drove up with a 1964 Olds Dynamic 88 2 dr. Coupe, with a 394 super rocket V-8, 4 bbl. carb, rated at 325 hp. Man I tell ya what, I licked my chops for a whole year until I got my license. Little did mom and dad know that their grocery getter could trany slam and lay down rubber for a whole city block. Plus turn low 14's in the quarter. Well soon after I got busted fer reckless driving, daddy took the keys away. When I was finally able ta sit down I went out and bought a 1958 Chevy Biscane. Saved up my hard earned money and paid $125.00 fer it. After shovelin out the 6cyl, and droppin in a punced out 283, she was still a POS., but she sure was fast.

I started out driving an early 70's Ford LTD Station Wagon (white with fake wood grain on the sides). I used to drive it to work (Six Flags) and to a horse pasture to take care of my horse (Baby was her name). I took the drivers test in my dad's '65 Dodge Polara 500 (white with a black vinyl top, maroon interior, bucket seats). My first car I bought my dad picked out and it was a baby poop metallic green with a darker green interior......a 70's Pontiac Lemans. It had a bench seat and fender skirts that was NOT COOL. I swapped that Lemans for my first VETTE...........a 1965 POS Rag Top, Roadster, Nassau Blue with black interior (man, I LOVED that car).

Grandpa taught me to drive his 50's Ford tractor when I was about 13. My first driver was the family 67 Ford Country Squire Wagon. Could haul all my buddies around. It didn't have the big block only the 352. Dare I say my first car was a 65 Mustang 6 cyl which I destroyed in short order on ice. Then on to a 67 Mustang GT fastback 4 spd. Had a year or so but had to sell, too many tickets
. Then a 70 Duster 340 4 spd. Da police didn't seem to follow me around like they did when I had the Mustang
.

my first car i paid 100.00 for 1963 pontiac catalina, white 4 door passanger only opened from the outside, little scary for the chicks. used to drive it a round flathead lake in montana, smoking a lot of weed had a small pin hole somewhere in the windshield area so the headliner would fill up with air and make you seem like the car was shrinking or something of the sort, one time it back fired so bad it blow the whole muffler system off the car, never started again, left it at the lake, took the plates and thumbed a ride home.
