"BIGBRRD" has been over at the body shop since last June. Kinda disappointed that the timeline has been stretched out so long, but "free" winter storage anyway! Last November I helped pull the front of the car off, A pillars forward, and pulled the engine. Lots of fun scrubbing 28 years of crud off of it and starting a refurb. This is something I've never done before and I have many folks here at C3VR to thank for answering questions I've had along the way (you know who you are).
A major milestone is about to happen and I'm pretty happy with the results so far. Still have a lot of details to attend to yet (like 9 miles of vacuum hose!) but at least the engine will be back where it is suppoed to be within the next few days. Here's a couple of shots (click on either one for a larger version).

Wow Jim that is really looking awsome
Question though, if you went with the original Corporate Blue engine, why not go with more original looking valve covers? I think the black aluminum L-82 VC's would look a lot better on there IMHO. Very nice work though, I'd give an arm and 2 legs to have my engine looking that good

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

Thanks! Yes, that is the correct color for the "Fireturd" (Pontiac Blue). We bought the car from the original owner so as far as I know the chrome valve covers came from the factory. Based on the amount of "crud" on the engine I don't think they were an add-on.
Gonna have to dig out ol' Snowman's number to see what kind of mischief can be found in a month or two...!!!

Great work, Jim, gonna look nice when you get it back in.
