Has anyone here ever bought a used car warranty or know someone who has?
If so what has been their experience? Are there any legitimate ones out there? What has been your experience?
Thanks in advance

Haven't ever bought one, but we deal with them all the time at the shop. Some are real finicky on what they will actually pay for, and some pay for everything, no questions asked.
Some of the extended/used car warranty companies will pay for a repair, IF their adjuster believes the damage is not "normal wear/tear", BUT they won't pay for fluids!
My only advice would be to read carefully any contract you may be considering, and make sure it will actually cover everything you are concerned with.

Years ago I bought a used car warranty from a dealership on a used Jeep Wrangler I bought for my Son. The warranty was from an "aftermarket" company although bought through the dealership. I cant remember the cost of the warranty but it was reasonable. It saved me over $3,000.00 when the engine locked a year later...money well spent in my case.
Thanks Joel, Chip. Was hoping someone would have the name of a known good one. Chip do you happen to remember the name of the one you bought for your son's Jeep?

Sorry, I do not and the car has since been totaled (no injuries). It was bought throug a Jeep dealer but that was several years ago.
Roger, by what I have read and heard, DON'T buy one from US Fidelis, which advertises on TV and bugged the h ell out of me with phone calls trying to get me to buy a policy. Saw an expose' on them on a TV news show awhile back. They're just a big rip-off. Check out the following:
