The most complex machine ever built by mankind. Check it out. Just think, the commander of the shuttle must know ever knob, dial and gauge and know how they all interact. Mind bending! After all that they must dead-stick the landing from space at enormous speeds, hit the spot and no go-arounds. One shot only.

These photos capture the Flight Deck (cockpit) of the Space Shuttle Endeavour, fully powered for one of the final times. Just a few weeks later, at 9:58am EDT on May 11, Endeavour was powered down for the final time in history. It was the last of the three space shuttles to have power. Below, other views show the mid-deck, gutted of its lockers and storage areas, and three final photos show the white room entrance in the Orbiter Processing Facility, signed by thousands over the years.

Amazing, Larry.  I can see why it took so long of a time to train the astronauts.  I imagine flying in the shuttle would be an experience of a lifetime.  Thanks for posting.

Thanks for sharing, Larry.  That is some amazing photography.  I've been doing some reading about the early space program lately, I want to start reading more about Apollo, SkyLab and the Space Shuttle programs, soon, too.
