Any recommendation for an international auto transporter ?

I am looking for : not enclosed, and NO TERMINALS .

There's literaly 1000's of brokers out there and as many transporters, but when you put "no terminals" and "canada" in the same sentence, there's probably a handfull left.

It's from Tampa to Montreal (Canada).  I already have all the paperwork filled for the customs.

It's an easy move, load the car, drive, clear customs with my paperwork, drive, unload the car....

Horseless is good but a little on the high side. I used DAS auto transporters. You might save some money and headaches by having the car delivered to the border and drive it across. I don't know how that will work, but it's a thought.

Thanks.

For my furnitures, I am using IntlMov Inc, which subs it to these guys.

I will know in a few weeks if I'm happy with them.  In the meantime, they quoted me 1750 for the Vette.  That is door-2-door without terminals.  The prices sounds about right.  I paid 700$ for Texas to FL 2 years ago, so for 3 times the distance and thinking that gas price is WAY higher than 2 years ago, I think 1750 is pretty good for international.

Several years ago a friend was moving across the country and was trying to figure how to take his Ford 8N tractor.  The furniture moving company classified it as a "garden tractor" and loaded it in with the rest of the household stuff.

Maybe you could "convince" the furniture movers to classify the Vette as a "toy car"...!!!        The "kids" at the border may not see the humor in that though.

Funny.

Actually, I think I came across a moving company who offered to move it in the same truck, but they charge by weight (and estimate the weight by cubic foot), so it was WAY over what I am ready to pay for it.

I got more quotes today.  So far, I have 1200, 1750 & 2300.  I am waiting for 3 more.  Once I have them all, I can post the names just to see if a name rings a bell (good or bad).

I'm pretty happy so far, I found 6 companies that does US-Canada and all of them are door-2-door; no terminals.

Some of them quoted a separate fuel surcharge.  I agree with that. I like to see it as a "temporary" charge that should go away one day instead of all wrapped up in the usual price without knowing the true surcharge.

This post might be for nothing but.. I talked with a guy today that does Corvette and Hot Rod restorations. He said he knew a company that would move coast to coast for $750.00 . He said he would get the info and bring it to me tomorrow. Now if he is as reliable as most people, I just typed all this for nothing... I will let you know if/when I get the info.

I moved last year.

I was moving from Sarasota to Montreal. Three weeks before the term, I changed the destination from Canada to... Europe.

I still took my 71' LS5 with me.

My mover was GRAEBEL (in Tampa). They did a VERY GOOD JOB. i can only comend them.

Thanks for the names.

Here's the scoop : with my new headers & chambered exhaust, the collector is now at 4" from the ground, which is not enough for open carrier, so I had to take enclosed.  Now, THAT was hard to find at a decent price; international, no terminals and enclosed....

Final price : 1995$ paid in full yesterday.  The cie. is A-A Auto Transport.  On www.bbb.org, they have a really bad rep, but since it will be subsidized to an enclosed carrier, I trying my luck.

The car should be picked up within the next 10 days.  I'll keep you guys posted.
