it might be considered cursing on here but i got tempted to buy a new project car.... a 66 mustang fastback
while surfing the net i stumbled on an ad of someone who want to sell his mustang, he already started with restoration.. taking it apart ,cleaning sanding . have it painted in primer ,buying loads of new parts but has to give up cause of lack of free time.
actually it is a bit too soon for me but well.. i like the idea of not having to do the dirty work.. cleaning , sanding , metal repair.. this mustang is solid as a rock , looks very complete... and all parts that are taken off already powder coated.. it is very tempting... although it is still not a real cheap project...
my other idea of a project was an early c3 or c2 ,, but the mustang came first.. for now

Go for it, Dude! I had a '65 fastback, and it was the best car I ever owned (next to my C3, of course). That baby was soooooooo easy to work on, and ran like a champ all day long. The interior is very versatile also, with the fold-down rear seat, and trunk access from the cabin. Wish I still had it!!

have a 66 mustang coupe here that i am going to be restoring. bought it
quite a while ago and lost interest in it. got my 75 vette and redid
the inside and getting a lot of things done on it. 3 people backed out
of buying the mustang so i will restore it myself. but my vette comes
first.

I love to RAZZ "MuscleStang" fans!
Now that your considering one, how do you like that term ("MuscleStang")?
Usually, as you know, they are referred to "in other terms" not so complementary...........

...........but to be honest, I really like the fastback's. I don't care for the standard bodies.
So,.............I've been kinda lookin at some Mach I's (ssssssssshhhhhhhhhh).
Oh dog-gone-it, I let a skeleton come out of the closet....
AND I believe you have MADE A "MOST EXECELLENT" CHOICE!!

Mid-60's are very popular now. If it is solid as far as frame and body, and the price is right, go for it.

I had a 64 1/2 Ragtop, among the stupid things I have done (letting it go).
I would take a 65/66 fastback in a heartbeat. I always thought in black w/red interior they had a vague resemblance to the Batmobile that Adam West drove.
I know 71Shark has a 66 he has restored and it is fun to drive. We took it from Oklahoma city to Eureka Springs Arkansas for the Mustang weekend a few years back, about 4 hrs or so each way. No problems on the road and it has more room than his 71 or my 80.
Good Luck with it!!!

that sounds like i don't have to worry to much about the fact that the car is taken apart and that i am actually would buy a body and several boxes of parts

the price it to my idea still a bit high.. but then again it is a rock solid body and seem complete .
anyway.. the positive reactions about getting such a (project) car give some extra inspiration to really go for it

Congrats on the "new" toy...!!! The first manual transmission car I ever drove was a triple black '66 GT convertible. Belonged to the next door neighbor and I was cryin' my eyes out when he told me he had to sell it (I didn't have the money to buy it - that's why I was cryin').
Still have a soft spot for a '68 "Bullitt" fastback (Highland Green of course!).
