Well I've been toying with the idea of a new truck (something along the Chevy lines) for possible future towing of the Pacer.  I think I found the appropriate vehicle.  A 2007 Silverado, 4DR, 4x4, with LT1 package.

Now all I have to do is to get the boss to approve the new purchase. She kinda likes the idea of a newer vehicle with a 100,000 mile warranty as oposed to a older truck with no warranty and 113,000 miles on it.

This is not the actual truck but a good idea of what its actually going to look like. Of course it has to be black Wink  Does anyone have any experiences (good/bad) with the new 2007 Chevy Silverado?

Can't go wrong with a Chevy. I don't have a new one, but I sure would if I could.

i've only had up to a 2000 chevy. was a suburban and it was a charm.  i am now in a 2003 escalade and it's blackThumbs%20Up. runs like a charm and has the power behind it too. in my opinion i don't think you could go wrong with the silverado. not impressed with new fords as i drive one at work (2006) and it leaves a lot to be desired. sounds like you won't have any trouble getting the boss's approval. good luck with it.

Nice truck! I've always had Chevy pick ups, love them. Don't forget to get it with the factory tow package, it gives you a lot for your money!
Good luck,
Dave

The newer Thumbs%20UpChevy V8s are awesome. I have a 2005 Yukon w/ the 5.3 vortec and it more than handles that big vehicle!!

Forsaking the DDDDDDodge, Mark?!?!?

I've run across a few late model(2004-up) Chebby twucks with electrical issues, mainly with the fuel pump relay, and the underhood fuse box. Corrosion is BAAAAD.
By all means, go with the HD cooling/tow package.
Check the specs, and see if the particular twuck you are looking at has the 4L65-E(HD) trans...much improved over the 4L60-E, with better planetaries(gears), and more needle bearings in place of bronze thrust washers.

Also, if this twuck has the "thermal/electric" cooling fan-clutch set-up, be prepared for a LOT of noise when it kicks in!

Not sure which tranny it has, just its a 4 speed auto.  The truck does have the HD towing package, with trailer brake harness, engine/tranny cooler, locking differential, and the 5.3L Vortec V-8.

And yes Joel, I ain't pulling a Corvette with a Dodge Thumbs%20Down

Look for "M32" in the RPO code section. Might be on the sticker in da glove box, but it should list it as HD trans.

I've got a 2003 Tahoe Z-71 . Yours has a differetnt suspension , But I would guess they still use coil springs in the back. If they do You should get air bags to help. Mine sagged with the trailer & the bags made a big difference. I also did a Diablo tune on ther engine & trans  HP+50 & TQ+29 at the rear wheels. Also upped the trans pressure 40% Which makes it shift quicker ( no slippage) which save the trans. If you have the tow pacage installed you're good to go. They are great tow vehicles. I'm installing slotted breaks & HD break shoes in the front, but the stock ons are fine as long as the trailer has good breaks.

Well this purchase is on hold, intrest rates took a giant leap. With my outstanding credit I'm not paying 6.59 on a new car loan. Thats crazy.  My current trucks intrest is like 4.3 or something like that.  Guess I'll wait till interest rates drop (if ever) or the end of the model year for big discounts.  I told the saleman, I've got a nice truck and a new truck would be a luxary.  I said I don't need a new truck, Cheve needs me with sales down 4% and Toyota's sales up double digits Confused cilrah2007-04-14 10:15:48
