That was cool DaveW

I'm surprised my God Father's "Uptown Garage" in Meriden, CT. isn't in there

I remember the days when my dad would pull into the Texaco station and 3 guys would run out. One opened the hood to check the oil, one would wash all the windows and one would pump gas. Those were the days.
I got a kick out of the one with the kid jumping on the air line to ring the bell. Kids used to ride thier bikes over the lines just to bust our chops at the station I worked in H.S. Then again, I used to do it too
.

The days when you could get gas with the change in your pocket, now you need a bank account!

I can remember when dad wouldn't buy gas at the local DX until he was either bone dry or the station across the street, Sinclair, started a gas war. He didn't want to pay over .20/gal.
[QUOTE=Jeffm]Really neat Dave. Thanks for the link.
Oh for the good old days.

Thanks Dave. Really brought back old memories. I can remember hanging around the the gas station after school and having "match fights"
.
Also this gas station had a "mechanics pit". Anybody remember these?
And the tire changer was by hand. In fact I have that same tire changer in my shop.

In my early teens my Father has a Sinclair station. I spent my summers and my free time there, pumping gas and changing tires.
Round oil cans in the window, mechanical carburetors, nylon tires, and bubble balancer - what a simpler life.
