So I got around to taking the dealer name plate off the back of the new car. I need some recommendations on what to use to remove the remaining adhesive

3M General Adhesive Remover will do the trick. Also, you may try some WD40, as it will work in a lot of cases. The 3M stuff will definitely get it off, but it will also take any wax off, so you'll need to put a spot of wax on the area.
If you use the WD40, you'll want to clean that off with soap/water afterward, and then wax.

I purchased "Goof Off" at Walmart. Reasonable priced. Its a liquid and use with a rag.
I used it to remove the adhesive in the door jambs/ weatherstrip adhesive.
Worked great and no damage to the paint

Yep; Goof-Off will work. And.... refrain yourself from trying brake oil... TRUST me! (Not that I purposely tried it, but I did spill some on my fender... needless to say that the paint has gone bye-bye...)
