O.K. here goes,Last year ,I asked everybody if they had any issues-comments on Saturns,it came out pretty favorable all and all.My wife has been wanting one for a long time,Now mind you this is her first brand new car she has ever owned, she wanted to have a new one so she would'nt "buy some body elses problems"she researched them, then went on-line and spec'd out what she wanted.2.2 liter 5 speed standard, dvd ,onstar all the bells and whistles.yes she wanted a standard, she can drive them. Now a month and a half after she got it ,the clutch started screwing up,it wouldn't dissengage correctly,it wouldn't come out of gear sometimes, they had it for a week ,finally figured the flywheel and clutch were defective,so they replaced everything, flywheel ,pressure plate ,throwout bearing the whole 9 yards. After that no more problems.2 weeks ago we were downtown shopping,we decided to go to a resturant across the street from where we were,we went down the inside lane to make a left turn around the medium,we got halfway through the turn and BOOM ,the right front wheel and spindle broke off and laid under the car, there we sit with traffic bearing down on us,thank god we didn't get hit.She hit the Onstar button and soon we had a cop and a tow truck on site.Too make a long story short, she told the manager she wanted a NEW CAR,she's not driving that one again,He said no problem, the new one is supposed to be in today for her to pickup, the only difference was she ordered the automatic transmission, which was an option for $700.00 more but they didn't charge her for.Cross all your fingers nothin goes wrong with this one

Wow, I'm suprised you got a different car that easily - glad they didn't fight you on it. Hopefully the replacement will be a better car.
Good luck on the new car, Ron. My daughter has a Saturn and it is a really good car. Maybe you just got a lemon. It happens sometimes. I agree with John, you are lucky to get them to replace it so easily.

Sounds like a very reasonable dealership. Most would have probably given
in if you had a lawyer contact them, but would have put up a little bit
of resistance. We have a lemon law in S.C. but the vehicle has to have
been back to the dealership three times for the same problem without a
good result or has to have been out-of-service, at the dealership, for
30 days within a year. The days need not be consecutive.

Sorry to hear that your having trouble Ron! I am one of the pro-Saturn folks from last year. I hope that is your last of troubles.
I am not surprised of their willingness to fix or trade your car. Saturn's number one committment is the customer. They have a reputation for good customer service and this is their sales pitch as a "people" company.
Tell your wife to hang in there and don't lose site that this is a made in America car...

But, after all that they SHOULD give you a new car and no hassle! If this one doesn't work out, check out TOYOTA.

Hi,
I'm Sandy, Ron's wife. For the record, I spoke with the Saturn dealership today. My new car should be ready tomorrow. They really have gone to great lengths too make sure that I'm happy. I decided I wanted a different color (changed from blue to white) and wanted to change from manual to automatic transmission. They found a white automatic at a different dealership and got it for me. They had to order the spoiler for me. The new car is in and should be ready tomorrow. The upgrade from the other car is the automatic transmission (retail $1,000 additional) and side air bags. They were going to charge me $300 additional for the upgrade to automatic, no additional charge for the side air bags because I don't care whether I have those or not. When I spoke with them last week, I asked them to consider not charging me the additional $300 as a good customer service gesture because of the inconvenience this has caused me, the manager said he wasn't sure about that one, he would have to think about it. I suggested to him that he go to his superior and discuss it. When I spoke with the Saturn dealership manger today, he told me he had made the decision to not charge me the additional $300. At this point, if every thing goes well with the new car I will be very happy. I do have to say, up to this point after a little bit of rocky start with the negotions I'm am pleased with their customer service. I'll asked Ron to post an update in the near future to let you know if I'm a satisfied customer or not!
