This was an interesting story in the USA Today for us "die hard" 4 speed guys and gals.  I love my stick shift.... and no way... an auto for me!!

"Confucius say, man who drive automatic is shiftless ba$@#d"

What's the point in having a "sports car" with an automatic? Part of the fun is shifting thru the gears!!

Believe it or not, there are now 8 speed automatics in cars!! These things shift so quick, and smooth, you can't even tell what gear it's in, nor can you feel the shifts. BOOOOOORING!
My '74 is a 4 speed, the '85 is an automatic, but....the trans in the '85 will knock yer head off when ya git down on it, just like a standard power shift! With 5-6-7-8 speed automatics, it's impossible to get that same feeling...the parts inside just won't handle it.

Manual shifts ROCK! I don need no stinkin namby-pamby 'puter tellin ME whut gear I should be in....I'll do it meself!

I believe there are certain vehicles that should be a stick shift.  Both my Vette (4-speed) and my pickup (5-speed) are sticks and the only automatic is the wifes car.  I think it just feels better and keeps me more involved in the driving of the vehicle.
