This morning I was reading the Sunday Paper and there was story of a woman living in Bend OR and driving to work in an street legal DMV approved electric vehicle.
She purchase it form this company Electric Vehicles | Tomberlin: Home of the Anvil and EMerge electric cars, and ATVs, scooters, go-karts and more
Check out the picture of the "Anvil", looks real Kool..
The cost of the basic EMerge "car" is $6500 to 7500 (not the Anvil)
Goes 25 mph and a range of 30 miles. Has mirrors, speedometer, turn signals, brake lights, seat belts and wipers.
Just was interesting to me and something to think about for the people that work or errands are close by.

I like the looks of the Anvil. Its a good idea that can save gas if you work or drive a relatively short distance each day. I live near a housing development with a golf course and the neighborhood food market has parking places for golf carts, so its more common than you would think.

Thanks Larry, I wouldn't mind owning one if it worked out. Besides I think it would be kinda fun to have and zip around...
I see some of these retirement communities have 3 car garages/ 2 for the cars and a smaller garage door for the golf cart. Must be nice.steves74 2008-08-03 18:21:11

I pulled up to an intersection yesterday and saw a golf cart with standard New York State plates on it, driving down the middle of the road. He had his golf clubs in the back and was probably going to the golf course.
Why not?

Wasn't it just a year or two back when Costco was selling those cute little cars at a very reasonable price. They looked to be weather proof if you chose and street legal definately. Wish I had a pic.
