    http://bobshermanspage.com/USAFPlanes.html

On this Page I have Tired to Research and Display as many of Aircraft that were on Active duty in the USAF after 9/18/1947.

The Majority of Information and Photos are From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, With Photos being Public Domain !
Some pictures included have the WWII insignias as I was not able to find the aircraft with USAF insignias
While other Aircraft may have other Countries and US Service Paint
Some info and Photos have been supplied by the Men who worked on them & Pilots who Flew them

I also know that there have been many Variants of Aircraft and Some of the Older Aircraft Designations have been dropped
from the Current Standard Designations used currently;  Green are Current, Red are dropped designations.

Aircraft Designations
A- Ground Attack, OA- Amphibian, AT- Advanced Trainers, B- Bombers, BT- Basic Trainers, C - Cargo,
E- Special Electronic Mission, F- Photo Reconnaissance, F- Fighters, H- Search and Rescue, J- Missile Tracking,
K- Tankers, L- Liaison, M- Medivac, N- Testing Platform, O- Observation, P- Pursuit, P- Patrol/ Maritime,
PT- Primary Trainer, Q- Multi-mission Remote Control,  R- Helicopters, R- Reconnaissance, SR- Special for the
SR-71, Strategic Reconnaissance, T- All Trainers, U- Utility, UC- Utility Transport, V- VIP Staff Transport,
X- Experimental, and W- Weather Reconnaissance - There may be More!

"I have tried to Display the Most Common or Primary use of each aircraft !"

I have tried to be as Accurate as Possible and Invite all input. I am Happy to make  Corrections and Additions !

I was really lucky to have served in the USAF as a Security Air Policeman from 1965-1969,  Right ... Not my Choice !
But in this role I  to got patrol all areas of the bases I was stationed at. I was able to see Aircraft of all types,
Meet the Men that maintained them, and the Air Crews that flew them. Even as a Air Cop, I volunteered to fly
as much as I could.

Over the Past several months, I have received dozens of emails about this page and I want to make it the Best.

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
That  is a lot of work nice pictures except the B36.  My step-dad worked on those at Travis AFB.  I have not seen a lot of good pictures of them.  I did take one from the hospital parking lot once but my dad took it from me.  I was not suppose to take pictures of operational aircraft on an AFB.

Hey Larry,

Great pictures and info about military aircraft.Thumbs Up  I was in Army Aviation, so I was very interested.  Several of the helicopters and light aircraft were also used by the Army.Wink

I agree with others, that Bob Sherman went to great lengths to compile this info.
Thank you for posting.
