Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
I keep seeing convertibles driving around (Corvettes and otherwise) on nice, sunny days with their tops up.  It certainly is a shame, seeing as these folks' tops are apparently broken.

I can't imagine any reason (ok, maybe one or two reasons) why, if you're driving a convertible, and it's not raining, and it's above 70 degrees, why your top would be up.  I personally think it should be a law to do anything but have it down under those conditions.

I keep telling my wife that one of these days I'm going to say something to one of these folks along the lines of "so sorry your top is broken," and she keeps warning me not to.  I almost got my chance today (she was not with me) as I was out and about and I pulled in to a parking lot next to a woman getting into a triple black C6 with the top up, but she got in and pulled away before I could even get out.  By the way, this was a very small parking lot with no one else in it and she didn't even give me a second look, let alone a wave.  As I've heard tuxblacray (Larry) say, "must be a leased car."

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I agree Marshall,  My vette is a "T" top but the tops are off the vast majority of the time in the Spring, Summer and most of the Fall.  Regarding the second part of your post I just started a new post about corvette PEOPLE and corvette OWNERS. I think the woman in the parking lot was a corvette OWNER..LOL

Hmmm, let's see, a beautiful sunny day in front of the National Corvette Museum, sharp looking silver vert, with the TOP UP!! Must be brokenWink  Just kidding. I seldom have the T-tops off when I go for a cruise. Wife usually rides along and always complains about the wind. She doesn't even like the windows down. Sometimes when I'm alone for a quick ride I'll take them off.  Just hate storing them in back so I leave them home. With a convertible I would probably go top down, tho.

Hey guys, you wouldn't want 'em to mess up their hair, would ya?  My son complains about the wind when he rides with me and I have the t-tops off.  I tell him "tough".  I must say, though, if I don't have my hair in a tail, it gets in the way of seeing.  So, I've taken to carrying hair ties with me!!

I love driving with the t-tops off.  Sometimes, though, there's just no room for them in the car (and I don't have the straps for the luggage rack with me) so they have to stay on!!!  I'm bummed when that happens.  But a convertible?  No excuse....  My next car is going to be a convertible!!!

Good point, but...  It was October and it was below 70 degrees (ah ha! = I have an "out!").

As for the hair comment, yes, it does get messed up.  I've taken to having a comb and bottle of hair spray at work for when I arrive in the morning on days I drive the Vette.  Also, I bought my wife a pink Corvette hat and I let her keep a brush in one of the storage compartments!  But I do hate riding with the top down and the windows up.  I agree, there's less wind that way, but it just looks so... dorky!

I put the top down every chance I get. Like you said, there's no excuse for having it up if the weather is nice.

The ones that make me laugh have the top down and the windows up.
They want a vert, but don't want the wind.
Go figure.Confused

GUILTY!!!  But I do have an explanation.  When the sun is shining and we are desparate to have it shining on us as we drive, but the temperature outside is just too cold, we take the t-tops off, roll up the windows and turn on the heat!!!  LOL  Sad, isn'it it!!!

Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.
topless id the only way to go... Where we live if the temp is above fifty the top is down, leather coat. Wife knows how I feel about driving with top up. I invested in a warming blanket for her that plugs into the lighter, now she has to compliants.

Ya I agree with Larry, the weather round here kinda stinks for going topless.  But I try to every chance I get.
