When its a Perrenti. I have known of these cars for a long time, always wanted one but no way i would pay the costs to get it to the USA. And, no it was not made by Chevrolet.

Hmmm...looks like a "tuner" car to me. It actually is a Corvette, but heavily modified, much the same way as the Callaway. "Year of Mfr" says '72, but it has 75-79 rear bumper cover, and late 70's/80's door panels. The frame looks definitely Corvette.(supposedly built on a Holden chassis?)
I recognize the "puke" tank on the right front...Mazda!! I had one of these on several of my race/street cars back in the day!
The car don't really look that bad...
HERE'S a different one...listed as an '80 model. This one looks a lot different.

I still tend to say not a Corvette. Here is one that is a 4 seater, and if you notice on all of them: No T Tops! From what i recall from years and years ago, they are all custom creations from the guy, more built like a kit car, but only sold as complete. I am trying hard to find out more info on them now. A linc to a third one:

Yeah, the more I look, the worse they get! Probably took a splash mold off of a Shark, and modified to suit the chassis that was available, a-la Bricklin, etc. Idaknow...might be a kewl thing to drive around.

The Perrenti company in Australia made many fibreglass bodies of different marques to put on Holden, VW, Chev and many other makes back in the 70s and 80s. This is one of the Holden types based around a Monaro body. Not all of the car is fibreglass, only the front clip, top and rear bodywork. The rest is all steel. Holdens of that era are a monocoque setup (the body is part of the frame). The VW kits were called Eurekas and looked like Lamborghinis of the same time frame. Damn ugly cars and if you put one next to a Vette it would be like chalk and cheese. Some Vettes with write off body work were converted in 1973 but still looked butt ugly.

Thank you Chips58 for clearing that up. As i said, i have always been fascinated by these cars, Once i get the chance to go to Oz, i definately am going to arrange to see one.
Did the 'Vette style we are looking at actually come as a 4 seater?

really strange to see. it looks like a corvette in many ways, but
enough to look radically different. kinda like the hard top look, but
not the b pillar windows on the back. looks like an overstyled custom vette to me. anyone notice the trunk as well
as the flush mount reverse lights on what looked like an original but
modified vette rear clip?
i found yet another one- this one says its a "corvette replica" and it appears to have been built on a van chassis!

Most Perrentis were made as four seaters and you will notice it has a trunk!
The Eureka I was talking about earlier are actually made by the Purvis company. http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/car_info_purvis_eureka.htm
The only real sports car designer and builder in Australia was the Bolwell company who built street legal race cars from the ground up. they sort of look like a cross between a Ford GT40 and a Shelby Cobra with a roof. I'll try and get some links.
As I said before, all the Perrentis if put next to a real Vette are like chalk and cheese. They sit way too high, 'cause they are built on car or pick up chassis. Even the few that were built on Vette chassis look really weird.
Here's a link to the Bolwell, Australia's only real sports car.
