I heard a guy on the radio. Say you were driving a car that was a rental or new to you and you wanted to gas up. How can you tell which side of the car is the "gas fill" on?
The guy on the radio said, look your gas gauge. It shows a gas pump emblem:
If the "Fill Hose" is on the right side, the right side is the "fill'.
If the "Fill Hose" is on the left side, the left side is the "fill".
Is this BS or what???? All my cars are old, so I couldn't tell. THANKS!!!

I've heard that as well...it's BS. I've seen cars that spell out on the gauge display which side the gas fill is on, but not by the use of the emblem itself.
I've also heard that the side of gauge display the gauge is on designates it as well, but that's also BS.

Our Cadderack has it printed on the gauge...a little arrow. Cain't get no simpler than that, eh?

I figured it was BS. Though it was a good idea. Too simple I guess, or too much work making 2 types of gas gauges and keeping track of what goes on what.......Thanks.......

HMMM... got to wonder about this. on my escalade the gas guage is on
the right and fill door is on the left. on the 75 vette the guage is in
the center console and the fill is in the middle of the rear deck. on
the 90 guage is in the center of dash display and again fill is in the
middle of rear deck. could it be that corvettes were ahead of their
time in this?

Fuel gauge on an '07 Vette is on the pass side(of the cluster)...fuel door is on the driver side..
I just happen to have photographic evidence of this.
Now what?
We were at the GM Technical Training Center today, and I got quite a few shots of some new cars...even got to take a spin(literally!) in a brand spankin new '08 Vette! Car had 317 miles on it! What a skreeeeeeemer it is!
Didn't have to put any fuel in it, tho...
