How do you think I did........I bought a 1931 chevy sedan.....283 slightly built...powder coated fram.....Cal. front end...s-10 4 wheel rear end with 373 gears....This car is all steel with no rust from Texas... I get four front fenders...two back fenders....also the running panels that conect to the fenders...these are not on the car yet.... but they just bolt on.....the body is already painted....gages are in the dash. Door handles and crank window handles look great.... wheels and tires are in great condition....I cant think what trans is under the car but i know he said something about a high and low 2 speed. Bumpers need work. I always wanted a hot rod, He was building this for his wife to drive then she lost interest. This car came from a friend of mine. Was $8000 to much, also I have to finish the inside it needs carpet and seats covered. Some people drives these cars without fenders I had the car on the street Sat. But I hate drive something thats not finished. But it did draw alot of looks and waves. Hope to get some pics on here soon. Also lots of chrome on the motor and painted very nice with chevy colors. Sounds great to. Thanks for your input. Vettebeige81

Great news! Hot rods are fantastic. Sounds like you got something that appealed to you and that's what's important. If the modifications are done correctly and the mechanics are OK, then what you paid is in the eye of the beholder. What I mean is if you like what you have, then you paid the right amount. Let's face it; eight thousand is not much these days for a rod even if you do have to finish it. Good luck on your project

Sounds like a good deal, that Hi-Low 2 speed,on a 283 would almost definitely be the infamous POWER-GLIDE,hard to kill, but you might want to jump up to a turbo 350 or 400,have fun putting it together

Hey Ron78, That is correct about the trans. (Power- glide ) I new some would know what it was. Thanks Ron
Actually, I think you got a pretty good deal. Afew years ago I got the "itch" for a hot rod. I was looking for what you found, running, but unfinished. They just couldn't be found.
I did end up with a 29 A model roadster, very rough body and frame, no engine or trans, lots of work to do on that one!

The power glide used to be a dog in the early 70's. Now it has a high demand and there a multiple kits you can buy to beef er up. Likewise the 283 although older still hase plent of small block options available. Can't wait to see how this comes along. Sounds like you will be able to turn a quick buck if you desire or tire.
