Topic: A setback with my wife
in Forum: Humor
Yesterday (Sunday) about 4:30 pm my wife made a noise in response to a pain of some sort. Then she went in to full body convultions (sp?) which lasted about a minute. Then twitching for about 2 more minutes. Then very, but not totally, unresponsive with fixed pinpoint eyes.
My daughter was home with her, and called me. She and I both called 911, and I followed the squad the last few blocks to my house. She was transported to the emergency room at Akron General.
On arrival, she could speak again. An hour later she acted as if nothing happened, and wanted to go home. But she could not remember anything from earlier in the day at all. They admitted her and planned a MRI in the morning.
Morning came (today, Monday) and she was too ill for the MRI. She kept throwing up, dispite the fact there was nothing in her system, she keep going through the motions. Early afternoon it settled down and they did the MRI.
This evening she was awake and seemed to be okay on the surface. Her stomach was still upset and she had eaten very little all day. But she is very disoriented. Sometimes she thought she was at home, sometimes she did not know she had been home for over a month. She would admit being in the hospital and get angry when we could not get her something out of the refrigerator, which is at home.
I have no word on the MRI as of yet. I don't have a clue. Hopefully I will have some answers tomorrow.

Sorry to hear this, Ken. I hope the Dr.s can get some answers, and something to help her. As always, you guys are still in our thoughts(& prayers). If there is anything we can do, you know how to get in touch.
Hang in there.

Ken, I'm not a religious man, but I'll be thinking about your family and hoping for the best. It has certainly been a tough year for you. I wish there was something we could do. Hang in there buddy.
Also, I heard you were at the C3 extravaganza. It made me even more sorry that I had to miss it, as I really want to meet you one day and personally thank you for freely giving so much knowledge to all of us on the forum.
My thoughts are with you and your family. Like all here, we're pulling for you.
About five years ago, a similar event happened with my Mom. In her case, it turned out her electrolytes and blood values were all out of whack, causing a seizure that appears remarkably like what your wife has experienced. The cause of my Mom's problem was she was not taking her medications properly (or at all). I took over giving her her meds and no more problem.
Hopefully, the fix for your wife is similarly simple.
Thinking about you both. Hope things take an upturn. Keep your chin up!! One of these days I'll make an Ohio trip to see my Aunt in the Warren area and will try to stop by and say Hi.
