Just when you thought you were reading another parts thread....My doctor gave me the unpleasant news that I need a hip replacement (left).  I've been walking with a noticeble limp the past few weeks and the pain has even taken the pleasure out of driving my baby, depressing the clutch. Has anyone undergone this surgery or know someone that has that can offer any advice, as far as, recovery time and life after the surgery? Golfer Jack Nicklaus says it's the best thing that's happened to him recently, but you wonder if that's really Jack talking or the ad-boys of Madison Ave. Really appreciate any input from anyone.

Mt mother was supposed to have that done, but never has. All I can say is it couldn't be worse than having to have a wheelchair to get anywhere.
Hope it all works out OK for you.

On a lighter note, make sure you specify U.S. made parts!

Thanks for the kind words, Roger.....the closer it gets, the wider the yellow streak down my back becomes.

I can't speak for myself, but a good friend of mine has had two hip
replacememnts, one when he was in his early 20's (he walked with a cane
when I met him)
and another a few years ago (now in his late 30's) to put in a state-of-
the-art hip. He now walks without a cane, and you would never know he
had a replacement (though he does have some discomfort getting in the
Vette, but not enough to stop him from joining me on cruises). Those
kinds of parts have come a LONG way, I'm sure you'll be surpised at how
fast
you get back to normal, so don't sell that car, you'll be back behind the
wheel in no time! Though driving an automatic has no shame !

I appreciate the words of encouragement, Kal....I've read all about the new age of artificial joints, but it sure does feel good when you hear personal accounts. Thanks, again....As far as the Vette goes, like the little, old man in the old Midas muffler commercial said, "I'll never sell Annabelle".

My late father-in-law also had it done. He was a plumber and electrician and looked like he'd ridden a horse for 50 years - pretty bowlegged. Was leery about it so when the doc said he needed to do both, he did one. Said it was the best thing he'd ever done and went back and got the other one done. You'd never know he'd had both done. Good luck to you.tricer38567.1446064815

Thanks, Ter.....I guess I just need to hear more success stories like that in order to feel more at ease about the procedure. I appreciate it.
