If you, or someone you know is now, or was at one time a stock broker, I have an interesting question to pose, concerning a stock certificate(28 shares @ $100ea)...issued in...please sit down...1921!!!
The "company" the stock was issued on was "merged" into another entity, but it is still in business today.
I'm just curious...

Please shoot me a P/M if you have any experience in this area, and I'll give a few more specifics.

if the company has merged with another company , they have probably issued or changed old stocks for ) new stocks for the merged company .

but those old stocks can have some collectors value :)

although on the other hand.. if these stocks you have were never withdrawn..( as "forgotten" stocks)  you might still  have some rights on them

Joel, Contact the company still in business today..Just think of the interest gained from 1921..They may replace the stock with new ones? You could be a new Bill Gates?..Naw.. not with your luck? Let us know the outcome..Terry

Yeppers...Paul sent me some info on the bank the stock was written on...sorry to say, it is no longer a viable operation.
The original bank was merged with a second bank, and that bank failed within a year. Then, it went into the hands of the banking commission, which presumably sold any/all assets of the bank to cover debts. At least that's how I understand it. The stock cert. is basically just a neat piece of banking history, suitable for framing!!
I checked on e-may, and saw tons of old stock certs for sale...most are available for the staggering sum of...$9.95!!!!
Thanks again, Paul, for the info.
