I live about 45 minutes from Franklin Mint. They usually have a display set up at Thomas Chevrolet for both the show and crusie nights. To make a long story short, last year at the show I looked at the "69 Vette" model up close and personal. It took all of 3 seconds to put it back down on the table. The lady told me I should pick at back up and " take it for a longer test drive". I told her there was no reason to because it was not an exact replica of a 1969 Corvette. She did not believe me so we took the model into the show and held it up next to my car and next to a 1968 and she admitted that the model is incorrect. The model is done in such detail that you can actually see that it has 1968 doors on it!! The thumb push button is clearly detailed and indented into the door. If you ever get the oportunity to look at one, you will see it jumps out like a sore thumb.

Vette(s): Two 1982 Collector's Editions
I am new to C3VR, but not unfamiliar with forums; but pardon me if this message does appear as witty or fun as others (I have to work on a picture; it makes reading the threads alot of fun!).
For those who collect Franklin Mint Die cast Corvettes, 1:24 Scale: At Carlisle this past weekend, I was told that ten models were going to be retired this year. This makes completing a collection difficult. When the red 82 retired earlier this year (list price $90.00), it suddenly started trading on eBay for $120, and just last week, $152.
There are several rarities out there as well: the black 1997, The Aztec Gold D4C, the 82 CE, a couple of "error" cars, and the Callaway C12 (do you buy it, or not?).
Word from the Franklin Mint folks at Carlisle (who were from the Connecticut store): the Callaway is not selling, and they expect the value to go down. They certainly trade on eBay for less than list.

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
That would have to be because the Callaway Vette looks like S%$T, in my opinion.
I am not a collector, but have ordered at least 4 or 5 from Franklin Mint for my older brother who has a '75 sitting in his garage (for about the past 10-12 years!). He has more memorabilia than I do, but I think that's because I would rather buy things to improve my car than to hang on the wall, or place on a shelf.
All in all, the only model I would want would be the one that identically matches my car, and I don't think too many manufacturers of die casts are going to produce a '79 S&%T brown (as my kids call it) Corvette just for me.
Anyway, I'm glad to see there are so many collectors out there. At least it makes my investment for my brother that much more interesting if he ever decides to sell them.

I think this exactly the same one I found at Carlise this past weekend... only, I paid $10 for it, not $17!
