I tried to get tickets to watch the Space Shuttle lauch from the NASA causeway in October, but they sold out in under five minutes  Wacko  I may still make the trip in Oct. or December and watch from a different vantage point if necessary.  I've heard there are some good places in Titusville to view from (I believe Eckler's showroom is in the immediate area as well Wink )Anybody here live in the area or just take in the experience?

I was there a few years ago, and I watched it from My Buddy's boat. We were as close as They would let us. Great Show!!!

I saw one when I was in Clearwater (yes, the Gulf side) one year.
And you didn't need binoculars either.
Awesome sight.
I can't imagine what it is like to be within 10 miles of it.Clap

I lived in Silver Spring for a few years and had the chance to see a night launch form my house. That was the most amazing sight. Did see a day launch form my house too.

I've watched one light-off from Vandenberg (CA), and it was quite a sight. Got a close-up look, because I work for a company that has some launch responsibilities. I have seen it land at Edward Air Force base.........it doesn't look like it should be able to fly, and apparently is a PITA to land; much like trying to parallel-park a 4-speed C3, with wide tires, and no PS!Tongue

I've seen three launches, including the first night launch. All of mine were inside Kennedy in the viewing area. The entire place shakes when the SPRMs light off. It is worth the trip. It really makes one proud to be an American.

Having grown up in Florida, I've seen several. I would think that you would get a clear shot from anywhere in Titusville, along HWY 1, which runs along the Intercoastal Waterway. You might try to take A1A to Cape Canaveral, to get down to the beach. I don't think you'll get a shot of the shuttle on the pad from either spot (It's been some time since I've been there so I don't remember.), but you should have a clear view after it lifts off. Tickets were still available for viewing from inside the visitors' complex, but I really wanted to see it from the causeway (6 miles away).  I've read that the view of the launch from the visitors' center is somewhat obstructed.  If I can't get tickets for the causeway in December I'll probably go out to Space View Park in Titusville, anybody here familiar with that?

Never seen it launched (but would love too!)  Did get a tour of the shuttle and other rocket launch pads back when I was in the AF.  Got to go all the way up the launch structure.  It's amazing....
