I see all these ads in the newspapers on these fancy electric heaters.  Like yesterdays USA Today had 2 full page ads.  One ad for EdenPure and the other for the "Amish" heater.

They have quartz infrared  lamps.   Suppose to  cut your heating bill up to 50%.

My first reaction was "bull crap"Confused.  Electric heat is electric heat!!
Does anybody know anyone that has one of these heaters???
And what do you think???     THANKS.....

Good one JoelRolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing. I definitely am interested in cutting my heating bill by half. I doesn't even get that cold here and my bill is still outrageous.

I do hvac for a living, If its electric --it runs on watts, your power co, bills on kilo watts or 1000 watts per unit,, if you measure the total BTU rating, or(heat capacity), by the total watts needed to create that heat, you will get a true cost of operation,, to put it in other terms, the Amish dont buy them,,rd

If they say it will reduce you heating bill, they assume you are heating with something besides electric; gas, oil, coal, wood, etc.

BUT, your electric bill will go up.

Thanks Dave, interesting read.  And thanks Rick.  Still would like to find someone that actually bought one of these heaters.  They are real pricey...$300 to 400.  And you see the ads all over the place.  Must be selling....
Thanks again.....Thumbs%20Up, steve
