I know it has been a while since I last posted, but I have been a little busy building a new home for my baby. I still havent finished, but at least I can use it. I still have to get electric in and next year cement the floor. I hope to get back to posting again soon. I probably will need to get a loan from Glenn to finish it next year. |bouncy|

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

Having a garage for your vette is really great. Glad to hear you decided to concrete the floor. Makes a really good garage. I have a garage in back for the vette, and a two car garage attached to the house for the other two SUV's. I'm in the process of designing a new home which will have a 3 car garage in front, with a two car garage next to the walk out basement. It will actually be part of the basement, but it will be separate from the lower family room.

My wife has already suggested that we should get the footings, and concrete floor poured while the builders are there working, so I can build an independent garage out back, after we get moved in. She is quite a gal. One in a million!!!
I presently live on a real busy street, close to the high school. When my kids were in school, it was great, but now all you hear is car radios shaking the windows, and tires squealing, and all of the other noise from the school. We bought a 3-1/4 acre lot in a new subdivision on the edge of town, on a dead end street. All you hear out there is the wind blowing. My wife can't wait to get out there. My closest neighbor will be about 200 feet away.

Better get off of the soap box....

Congrats Rick, glad to see you are 90% done with the garage. One thought, make sure you put a sealer on the concrete floor after it cures. It will help with wiping up the little leaks, drips or whatever gets on there. I'm glad I did it to mine

Hey Rick...
As said above, it's very cool that you now have a home for your baby!

I have a home for mine, but with the winter coming up, here's my problem.... I want to keep her in the garage, but with my truck outside, it is subject to frost and snow on the windows, which I HATE having to deal with in the morning!

So, I could put the Vette outside, under a cover, but I think that looks "trashy" to have a car in the drive with a cover on it.

So I don't know what to do, but I'm favoring leaving the Vette inside.

Oh well. |ohwell|

Anyways...congrats!

Rick,

Congrats as well. Even when we had a home that had a two car garage my truck had to sit outside (my bride's vehicle and the ski boat sat inside). For the last 17+ years on "The Ranch" the boat has occupied some floor space in the barn, along with my bride's three Arabians, while her vehicle has dibs on the single space garage (and my truck still sits outside!). Since getting "The Toy" though, it gets to occupy the garage while it is home during the driving season. A block heater and an interior heater plugged into a timer has helped my truck fend off the frost and snow of the winter seasons. Hoping to add-on an oversized 2 vehicle addition in the next year or so. Then I'll be able to tend to some winter projects on "The Toy" instead of just thinking out them.

Glad you're getting there Rick. I have been using mine since the end of June but still have the inside to finish. I completed the wiring last night and have 98% of the insullation finished on the walls. Next is insullating the roof and then dry wall. I may or may not be finished by next spring ( probably not cause I want to raise the trusses 2.5 feet in the back half of the garage so the lift fits better. LOANS are always available but the interest is compounded daily |smile|
Glen, as far as I remember, all anyone heard when I went to school was loud radios shaking the windows and lots of tires squeeling so maybe things have not changed much in the past 35 plus years ???? Difference now is they call them " ricers " back then they were " muscle cars " |biggrin|

Post pictures, they're really good and I'm sure these guys would dig seeing the new pad for your baby.

Rick, almost forgot! I've been totally busy with all kinds of stuff, Destiny's in the shop again till Friday, been cleaning the shed and garage, etc. Anyhow, I'll email you later tonight!

I've been talking about getting a new home for my baby too. My cousin was going to do the floor for me so it wouldn't cost as much, but mid summer turned into late summer, late summer turned into early fall, early fall turned into...sometime!! But its ok, I know he is very busy, so my mom was talking to a few guys who are always doing work at our house and they measured it up and told her it will be done and ready for me when I go home for my Thanksgiving break!!!! Because of the price difference though I'm only doing the 25' x 15' room and waiting on the 11' x 17' room that is next to it. I may just put a temporary wooden floor in there for now. I'm also going to have to increase the height of the doorway and build new doors so I can get my truck in when I need to. But I'm so excited, I was going to do suspension this winter, well, can't afford that now, but I figured I need a place where I can do it first anyway. |saluteflag|

Thanks everyone. It has been a struggle. I got the wiring ran from the house to the garage yesterday and today. Hopefully this week I will get the wiring started. My brother is doing the electric too. Adam, I had the same problem last winter. Fortunately, I whined to a friend and he had his son move a piece of equipment out so I could park the vette in his garage. This summer my truck stayed outside in the elements while the vette parked in the garage. Now I have room for all of my toys. If I could figure out how to attach a pic of Baby's new house I would. Thanks again my friends. |smile|
