Feeling for ya! You need to find a woman who has the same interests, Vettes.....

Marriages aren't high maintenance you only have to listen to each other and don't ever argue about money.

Alcohol is always going to be a problem.

Sorry to hear the heart ache. Move on and look at the future. Plenty more fish in the sea. |frown|

sorry to hear that Ben. Hope you can work things out. You might want to tell your wife that killing someone due to drunk driving is one experience I assure you one does not want to experience. You live every day of your life thinking about it. I know, I live it every day. If I can help in any way please let me know. jacksl71vet@aol.com

Geez Ben, that is bad news. Drinking and driving, even if it's just a short trip home is not fair to your wife or anyone else on the road. Hopefully you two can work this out. I wish only the best for you. |wavey|

yeah, I nearly died because of a drunk driver 10 yrs ago..

she has promised to stop numerous times.. I told her she has to find another job. She has until Sunday to pull her head from her a$$ and quit the job. Im home alone... she's at her mothers now.

I had about 3 hours of sleep sunday night.. not a full night since saturday. no sleep at all since Sunday Ive been too mad to sleep.

I just started drinking some of Johnny Walker's Golden sleeping medicine. We'll see if this helps

Ben,

I'm truly sorry to hear about your troubles. As you know, I run across a lot of people who are demonized by alcohol, through my job.

I've never seen alcohol improve anyone's quality of life.

That goes for you too, brother. I understand your appointment with Mr. Walker right now, but just remember to take care of yourself first. You're too intelligent of a man to let that get to you.

I hope your wife realizes that she needs help, possibly from AA or another 12-step program. No problems will resolve themself, until she takes the first step, but that step is for her to realize, and she won't until there is nothing else left to lose.

I'm talking from experience here, Ben. Many moons ago, I was in her position, but on the other side of the barstool. And, with the help of those that truly love me, I'm many times the man I once was, and greatful for it every day, although my demented sense of humor has stuck with me. I just thank God that I didn't hurt, or kill anybody in my fall.

We're all here for you, my friend. If you want to talk, or just bitch, I'll e-mail you my number. Feel free to call anytime. I wish you nothing but the best.

Take care, and good luck. |thumb|

Alan

Ben, we are all with you and wish you well. My first one lasted 2 years, I'm just past 19 years with #2 and she is the driving force behind the Vette. I was having a bad time with the job and she suggested a trip to BG last fall, When we got back the hunt was on for the '69. Stay out of the bottle, it won't help...trust us. Do what you need to do and move on. We are all here to listen and help. |frown|

Ben, that is truly a tragic situation. My Dad had a severe drinking problem when I was a teen ager. I know first had what it can do to a family. Somehow we all survived, and all are together.

As for timing with your lifetime membership, It's just all the more reason for you to get the membership. Not a strike against it. You know you have friends and folks who care about you here. Keep it in mind, and I hope it helps. If I can do anything, let me know. I have no idea what that would be, but if I can, I will do it.

God be with you. We are with you.

I definitely agree.. alchohol can be a vice.. ive been a drunk myself.. but even when i was at my worst (averaged 60$ a day on drinking... i had to drink myself to sleep, I had to drink to get out of bed... there was always a bottle of scotch on the nightstand) I didnt drive drunk. I used to sleep in my 97 vette.. I would put the keys in the tailpipe and pass out. When I was in college I drove drunk many times... I was the designated drunk driver. that all changed when I was hit by a drunk driver dec 2, 1994.

My tricked out 64 ford galaxie was hit broadside by an 85 topaz that ran a light.... i went spinning and crashed through the guard rail on bridge and fell inverted over 20 feet. had the galaxie not been a prime piece of american steel I would dead right now. I wasnt wearing a seat belt.. If I had been I would be dead ... it landed on the drivers side of the car and the roof and seat were nearly touching. I broke both collar bones, all four fingers on both hands, cracked 6 ribs.. I crawled out the car before passing out from shock and the car broke loose and slid over my legs and it turned my left knee 90 degrees sideways. Since that day I have never driven drunk. Ive never driven with a slight buzz.

my wife however thinks she's invincible. I have told her that no one intends to run over a 6yr old child but it happens when you drink and drive. Ive had enough. The sad thing in that if I cant get her back she wont change. Im very conflicted by this.

I lost my USMC flight contract over this wreck. I spent 8 months trying to run again. I went from a 16:45 minute 3 mile run to a 24 minute run. The reason I didnt return to my native Minnesota is because the cold weather is hell on my reconstructed left knee.

Im living proof that drunk driving will not only kill people but destroy those who survive.

I have no problem with alcohol.. im drunk right now. but i drink at home. im sure most of you know better but for any of you who dont. please call a cab.
