I was just watching the news and saw that the players are going to go on strike on August 30th. What do you think about it? I'm not a baseball fan, but I like going to a game every once in a while. Personally I wish the owners would just say no, so the baseball players could go get a job and see how the rest of America lives. If I was making that kind of money I'd probably do the same as they are, but I don't and won't. I just think they are being way too selfish. I just don't like hearing people complain like that when they are very well off. So all I have to say to the major league baseball players is, get a real problem.

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

This was said someplace here before: Drop their pay to about 40 grand a year, a regular joe type health plan with no dental and no vision, no signing bonus, etc., and see how many stay and "play for the love of the game".

George, good point! Congrats on your membership here too! Say you guys, are baseball players paid after each game like some race drivers are? Long live NHRA, IHRA, NASCAR, IROC, and all the indy series out there. I dig any type of racing, but prefer NHRA and NASCAR.

I can't believe I have to go through this again. the '94 season was a PITA enough now let's cry some more. If they do it, I'm done watching baseball!!!! My Yankees will have to rely on the idiots paying for their season tickets for support. In a nutshell.......

The ones who truely(?) love their sport (any sport for that matter, not just baseball) are the ones who are at the farm club level going from town to town by bus. Professional athlete's salaries have gotten WAY TOO out of line. But then again, so have top level corporate executives...!!!
Mind you I'm not siding with the owners on this issue. Most of them are so wealthy that they could build out of their petty cash funds the new, fancy stadiums/arenas/whatever that they claim to need to make ends meet instead of whining and crying that they need so much help from the tax paying public.

WHO NEEDS BASEBALL-LET EM STRIKE.EVERYONE STOPS THINKING ABOUT BASEBALL THIS TIME OF YEAR ANYWAY.THE NFL REGULAR SEASON IS ABOUT TO START.NOT EVEN THE REFS BAD CALLS WILL STOP MY OAKLAND RAIDERS THIS YEAR.

The only way this issue will go away is if someone organizes the fans to go on strike. $80/ticket for seats at Yankee Stadium. Not for me. As long as we (fans) keep buying tickets & keep paying for premium cable TV, the issue of "who shares in the billions" will go on. Take your family to a minor league game. (We have the Bridgeport Bluefish here in CT) -- it's a lot more fun & you get to return home with some money in your wallet!

Now there's some good ideas! Have a "fan strike"! Can you imagine just half the seats filled? Too bad no one's got the guts to actually try it. Pro baseball is no fun at all for me to watch, in fact, I find it boring and can use my time in better ways. Now, minor league ball, I like to watch alot. I've been to some local games, and it's a blast to watch those guys play a baseball "game". Since when should you have to pay 80 bucks to go watch a "game"? I think the players make too much, the owners have too much, and the fans get it in the tail every time. I'll stick with racing, they don't strike for stupid, rediculous reasons. Pro players, any of them, have no real reason to strike in my book, none. I still say put them into regular type pay like what some of us make and see what happens.
