Yep.......sure are. I had to put my Popeye to sleep last Friday. Man was that one hard thing to do. He was thirteen and my pest buddy. I had a hard time digging thru the frozen ground but he was laid to rest nice and deep. Saturday I moved a 1000 pound rock to mark his grave. I'll never forget that guy.

My wife's cat is nineteen...I think the little monster will live forever. She can't see or hear very well but gets around pretty good. She still has a good appetite and can fill the litter box with the most foul "product" you can imagine.
She'll be surprised in the Spring when we plan on getting a puppy.

What kind of puppy

My Popeye actually thought he was a dog. He never meowed. He loved to run free outside. He chased all the other critters thru the woods. He rolled over to let me rub his belly. He liked to come into the garage and check out my stuff and watch me work on my car. He didn't mind loud music. He was a true guy......not requiring a lot of maintenance. He loved to eat. He always had gashes and various broken parts. I saved him from a pack of coons. They ripped half his face off as a tiny kitten. I never thought he would have an eye or ear on his right side. I nursed him in my garage for six months. His eye eventually opened but the eye socket was elongated at the far corner......hence the name Popeye. He slept on my Corvette during his 6 month convalescence period.
After he healed I left him loose to roam or come in the house when ever he chose. He roamed all summer, but during the winter he came in only to go out to make his rounds of his territory and do his business. He was the BEST!

We plan on two pups...a Golden and a German Shepherd. I've never had a Golden before but have had Shepherds most of my life and love the breed. My wife has had a Golden and thinks it will a calming influence on Shepherds which can be quite a handful for a while.
Over the years my family has had Shepherds that were adult dogs behavior-wise from puppyhood throughout their lives and Shepherds that were perpetual puppies.
I'm looking forward to having dogs again...it's been over a year since we lost our last Shepherd...a perpetual puppy.

You must really miss your Shepherd.
I love dogs. I've had over the years a Cocker Spaniel, a Heinz 57 Varieties hound dog. a Siberian Husky and a Maltese.
You really have a great plan going. I'm sure it's going to be fun for you guys. I love the perpetual puppy. I like them to stay that way. You must really miss your Shepherd.
Golden retrievers are so friendly.
