I have a 2000 Malibu that has the factory CD/AM/FM sound system.  There are buttons for AM/FM and CD/AUX.

Does anyone have any idea how I could hook something into the AUX?  Is there a jack on the back of the unit?  There isn't one on the front.

I am looking to hook my XM Satellite radio receiver into the AUX port (if there is one).

Thanks!

Adam, I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the stereo head is pre-wired for an aux. CD 'magazine'(changer),which would go in the trunk. You might check with the local stereo installers, or something like 'Tweeters', (if you have them around your area) but I'm bettin' one of the C3VR members will have the info. Adam there is a way to hard wire a xm radio, but I think you have to pull the radio in order to do it. A guy I work with has done it to his Olds....I'll ask him.
My xm runs through the tape deck on my Corvette, but would be much better if I didn't have to use the tape deck.
I'll see what I can find out.

I don't have the answer to the question but just wanted to add that you will love the XM. I have had it for over 2 years now and can't hardly stand to listen to FM anymore. I don't miss commercial radio at all.

 Adam,

Check this site out & others  http://www.installer.com/wires/index.html   I hooked my 2000 explorer up to XM with a cassette, which sounds pretty good. Don't use the FM wireless modulator as the sound quality is poor. I'm going to research this further to see if I can get a direct hookup. I do believe you'll have to pull the radio, but check with people like these first.

Alan

I pulled the unit today.

It has not easy AUX jacks on it.  It only has the two factory harness wires coming in and one free input, but it looks like it is looking for another factory harness.  I think I'm SOL.

Adam, have you checked the owners manual for the operation of the CD AUX? My wife's 98 Malibu manual specifies a procedure to play from a remote playback device. Might that be where your extra input could hook up to the sat. radio? Apparently pressing the CD AUX button TWICE operates the remote device.  Mike
