Mark,
Your so mean sending your puppy out into the rain to get your paper.
Our cat was named Evenrude because he purred so loud.
Here is Winston in a 1/2 scale 1966 Vette.

My Golden has gotten the paper pretty much every single day for the past 7 years (since he big enough to hold it in his mouth)!  We send him in the cold, heat, rain, snow, sleet, hail, tornado, hurricane, whatever.  That's what a dog is for, isn't it?  Tongue

That reminds me of a story about our last dog, Sam (also a Golden). When we lived in Colorado Springs, we lived on a flag lot that had a VERY long driveway. The dog was trained to retrieve the paper. We'd open the font door, tell him to "pick it up". He'd run down the driveway, get the paper and bring it back, then get a treat. When my parents came out to Colorado for a visit, we told them Sam would get the paper for them in the morning. For some reason, I took the paper to work with me one day. My dad got up, sent the dog out for the paper. Sam ran down the driveway and came back with nothing. He told Sam, again, to "pick it up". He ran down the driveway again and, again, came back with nothing. This time my dad said "pick it up" a little firmer. Well, Golden's aren't stupid...Sam knew he wasn't going to get a treat until he brought back a paper. So he did. When I got home from work, my dad told me that Sam didn't want to get the paper this morning. I told him I took it with me to work. He said, "Well, he came back with one eventually". We don't know which neighbor he ripped off!!!! Rolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing   He was a great dog!

That's a great story!  I got a good laugh out of that. Thanks!

If we send our dog out and the paper hasn't come yet, he definitely looks bewildered.  He probably isn't so worried that it isn't there, but more so concerned with the fact that he won't get a treat when he comes in.

we got a dog left on our front porch one time. it was too young to be left but some people are stupid, plus it was freezing cold outside. we fed it and it turned out to be the best dog. never had a leash and when we went to vet i'd tell him to sit and he would and never move.

kk, my wife decided to teach the dog to get the paper at the end of the driveway and he caught on really quick. only problem was, he went to each house on the block and brought all the papers to the front door. after wife walked up and down the street returning all the papers, she decided not to have him fetch the paper anymore.Big%20smile

Maybe I could train all 4 of my Yorkies to get the paper. They could make it a team effort. I could just see them dragging the Sunday Trib down the drive!
