I was trying to figure this out...but I'm not sure if I'm right, so I need your help!
Below are 3 scenarios. Can anyone tell me is the amount of fuel used in each scenario the same or different, and why?
1) Drive at 30mph for 2 hours for a total distance of 60 miles.
2) Drive at 60mph for 1 hour for a total distance of 60 miles.
3) Drive at 120mph for 1/2 hour for a total distance of 60 miles.
Thanks!

Yeah, Scenario C at least involves burning the entire tank of gas in addition to the rest of my car as my engine catches on fire and engulfs the whole thing.
The other two? well I know I get better MPG at 55 than at 70, but I know that I also get better MPG at 55 than at 40, so presumably it might be the same...maybe for A and B. But I wouldn't think that would be a foregone conclusion.
Older trannys might have higher slip at higher speeds, whole linkage might lose more power per distance traveled at 60 than at 30.
That's the only explanation I can make up at this time.

Ya just gotta remember if you drive 120 ya got a lot more time on your hands to stop for gas . That is if you live that long .

reguardless of the time involved. when you are driving a set distance you engine will turn the exact same ammount of revolutions through your rear axle to cover this distance. only difference will be the fuel mileage difference at diffeent speeds. higher speeds generaly mean lower MPG
