as far as laying plastic down underneath the car...what kind of plastic?  like...hard plastic, or just a plastic bag?

also, I've heard mention of a "car bag."  anyone point me to where I can find one?

One of our local club members had one for sale a while ago. I'll e-mail him and see do he still gots it...

As far as the plastic, get some medium thickness stuff. you don't want to tear it driving on top of it. Similar to the plastic drop-cloth stuff, but a bit thicker. You can get it at Home Depot/Lowes, etc.

Here's a LINK to one "car bag" site...Adams' Apple2007-01-01 19:20:10

Take care and dont eat more than 6 MRE's in a row... oh wait, you're in the army, you guys are used to MRE's.... we air force sissys require omlets and steaks! LOL, again, take care and best of luck to you and all your comrades...

Mike,
My family and I will pray for your safe return, and thank you for your dedication.
Don't forget, COVER YOUR SIX !
P.S.
I've used the car bag (Joel has the link above) for 4 years, and IMHO, it's the best money I've ever spent. If you follow the instructions, even after a year, your car will look like it was just covered.

I really appreciate all the support, the prayers, and good wishes from you guys, and all the great advice you've all given me also.  I admit I'm looking forward to the deployment...it's an opportunity to gain some good life and cultural experience, and ease some financial stress also.  I'll be able to pay off a couple loans, as well as buy a new 2007 Subaru STi, and get laser surgery for my eyes...so the monetary benefits will be great, but the life experience I get from this deployment will be invaluable.  I'm starting to get scared, though...not about deployment or combat or anything, but about leaving everything and everyone I know for such a long time.  It will be rough to spend so much time away from my family, my friends...the stingray, and even my family here on C3VR.
